A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Do you recommend the Morgan Carbtune Pro?

Never did that but that's another great reason to upgrade.

Do you recommend the Morgan Carbtune Pro?

I could see that happening. I've always applied a light coat of silicone grease to the aluminum adapters that are on my Motion Pro. Hoses slip on and off easily. I do the same with the carb bowl overflow lines and various other hoses. I'll do the same with the barbed Carbtune adapters. Thanks...

Do you recommend the Morgan Carbtune Pro?

I don't get ya, Earl. The hoses (via adapters) should connect to the manifold on the head. I don't know what you mean by connecting them to a "cool" area. '

Do you recommend the Morgan Carbtune Pro?

Thanks for all the replies! I appreciate it.:) The website shows the brass connectors are included. Hope so. My biggest gripe with mercury is what I guess is hot air or condensation getting into the columns. If the synch takes awhile, too much heat enters the tool and you see air gaps in the...

Do you recommend the Morgan Carbtune Pro?

I accidently knocked mine over while working in the garage. Some mercury spilled out on the concrete floor. It looked to me like the mercury had dust on it , so I considered it contaminated and not worth trying to put back in. I have no idea if the amount spilled would compromise the reads so...

    Two motorcycles riding together

I never ride directly behind anyone. I can't see things as well with another rider in the way. Not safe either if the rider in front were to go down suddenly. I can't imagine any instructor suggesting that. Maybe miss-communication? Harleys and old English bikes spray oil on you too.:p

Do you recommend the Morgan Carbtune Pro?

I'd like your experience/opinions on the Morgan carbtune Pro. I have an old mercury gauge I've used for decades but I'm interested in the Morgan. If you own this tool or have seen it used, is it a quality built tool and is it reasonably accurate? Anything you'd like to share about this tool...

    Motorcyclist in road rage shooting

Interesting. I wouldn't do an interview no matter how much I wanted my story to be told. It all boils down to how stupid it is to let yourself get so angry over something that's really nothing. You don't like what some other driver is doing, so you physically confront them? I've been angry as...

    77-79 GS550 Petcock - diaphragm & rebuild?

If Pingel makes a fuel valve for the 550, I'd buy it and forget it. Not cheap, but they work.

    1978 GS750E Rich Carb

As others said, a failing petcock makes sense. That cylinder could run well while warming up, but then run too rich at operating temperature. I run a Pingel on my '79 GS1000. I've owned a Pingel for 20 years now. Needed it's first rebuild 2 years ago (hard to rotate lever). You mail it in with...

    Vintage in the Valley

Thanks for sharing your pic's. Really brought back some memories. I owned a '66 Yamaha 305 Y6 Big Bear with pods. It was my first street bike. I was a teenager and knew nothing about jetting back then. The bike was running so lean and hot, that sometimes it would continue to run several seconds...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Redman, riding and being with your family, seems like you had the perfect trip. I like how you described the BMW owners breakfast and how each member tries to impress and one up the other. Then you go out and have as much fun as any of them just by keeping it simple. Thanks for sharing your pics.:)

    Damn the leaves!

Ha!! That would be fun! Wish I was as close as you. I'd like to meet Earl someday. Just a tad too far to go. And I hear his place is kind of messy anyway.....leaves and stuff all over the place.

For those with pods - what to do with breather hose?

As I said 5 posts back, I have a K&N filter at the end of the hose and it sits in a catch. I've never had any problem related to crank breathing. That's how it will stay. I haven't read anything in detail about crank breathing or venting or whatever you want to call it, so maybe my opinion is...

    Damn the leaves!

Wish it was that easy. I bought two different leaf blowers with vacuum. One is battery powered and very light weight, so it's convenient to use but cannot get ALL the leaves out of the rocks/gravel. The other blower/vac is more powerful and will start tossing the gravel if I set it too high...

For those with pods - what to do with breather hose?

I run a longer crankcase breather hose to a K&N breather filter under the seat. For a catch, I used the plastic upper dust cap from some Progressive shocks. I used a piece of 2" electrical tape to seal the hole in the cap. Mounted the cap upside down with a groove cut into it for the hose and...

    Damn the leaves!

Just read this. Damn. Just from a little patch of leaves? I hate leaves. I spent $15,000 and re-landscaped my yard to a "no maintenance" desert landscaping. Moved 48 tons of rock, gravel and plants and moved two discs in my back. Finishing the job became life and death (think Chevy Chase...
