DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Dogma, I am currently running Fournale shocks which are French. The company apparently specialises in shocks for aircraft such as the old 747 Jumbos and the Concorde. Flyboy may chip in with some information. There are no springs they are air over oil. This pair are nearly 30 years old and...

    My 1981 GS1000G bought new

I bought my GS1000G new in December 1981. I traded in my 1978 chain drive GS1000HC. The 1978 model was originally a red and white skunk but after a minor drop was repainted black and red. I spied the G and got a great deal on change over. Here is the sales brochure. And now here...

    New battery and dodgy electrics

I have replaced my lead acid battery in my '81 GS1000G with a Deka AGM unit. I think I have found some missing horse power and the old girl seems to rev much more easily. The previous performance was fine but seems to be much sharper as if there has been some fine tuning. The voltage of the...

How to Break-In New Tires -- Opinions

Don, In my opinion a short steady ride through some twisties will scruff the tyres up sufficiently to allow for more aggressive riding. The twisties will allow you to rough up the majority of the tyre surface. All you need to do is break that smooth shiny surface of the new tyre. Interested to...

    New tapered head bearings

Bomber737, If you have a GS1000 then your bike came with tapered steering head bearings. If they are thirty years old then they may look like this even if they have only done very low mileage. Check my front end thread http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=173949 Unless...

    Changing Steering Head Bearings

1948man, Your steering head bearings should be easily available from your local bearing supplier. I just walked in off the street and they had them in stock. Many bikes use the same bearings. Check your parts manual but most GS Suzuki's use the following: 1 X Tapered roller bearing 32005X...

Steering Stem Bearings and Fork Oil Change

Similarly changing the head bearings is easy though getting the bottom race off can be a bugger some times. My experience was that it was all pretty straight forward except the removal of the bottom race. An engineering mate of mine carefully cut it with an angle grinder.

    GS850G Tanks

Searching posts on 850G tanks indicates that they may have changed from a single rear bolt to two mounting bolts on the '82 models. Any details on this?
