A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Cheap 750E w/ bad motor? How fast should I run away from it?

Yeah, I'd offer maybe $250 if it's near new cosmetically. But I'm not afraid to walk away if I offend someone lowballing. Probably not my best trait haha. I figure it doesn't hurt to ask. "You never know how cheap they'll go until you hit them with a low blow."

Cheap 750E w/ bad motor? How fast should I run away from it?

That's the main reason I sold the 750 I had. It was going to get real expensive real fast to take it from where it was to where I wanted it to be cosmetically.

Cheap 750E w/ bad motor? How fast should I run away from it?

I agree with this. I've come to learn very quickly that just because someone is called a mechanic doesn't mean they know anything. I help friends out with repairs on small engine stuff, mowers, ATVs, chainsaws etc. You wouldn't believe how many have been brought to me because "my other mechanic...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Nice to see the GK out! I rode the "Thumb Loop" today with my neighbor. I live near Flint so it's easy to head NE to the tip of the thumb then down the east coastline and back across to the west. Beautiful day for a ride, weather couldn't have been better! Unfortunately I couldn't take any...

'83 850GL Maintenance and other repairs

Interesting. I've heard if delkevic, V&H etc but not heard of Motad. Are they a reputable brand for Suzukis?

'83 850GL Maintenance and other repairs

Ok so sounds like it won't be any worse than my neighbors HD. As for flow, I forgot you have a single carb so not an apples to apples. What makes you think the motad will improve it? Does it have smaller primaries?

GSXR "DOT" head on my GS1100

Ah, OK thanks for the explanation! I was thinking DOT had something to do with Department of Transportation but I couldn't figure the connection. Cleary over thinking this one haha. In other news, a GSXR750 would be a hoot 'n' a half

'83 850GL Maintenance and other repairs

Hows the volume at 80mph? Is it deafening at high way speeds or just too loud for sneaking in late? I don't mind louder exhaust as long as it doesn't make my head ring after a trip. As for free flowing, probably loose some low end torque due to the pipes?

GSXR "DOT" head on my GS1100

    What's a DOT head? Sorry, I'm a noob..

'83 850GL Maintenance and other repairs

Contemplating a 4-1 exhaust for my bike. To be quite frank, I've always disliked (maybe even hated) the look of the short megaphone OEM exhaust on my 850L. I'm not fond of the sound either. On a whim I was looking at options online and the Delkevic with straight muffler is tempting me! Do I do...

    Wiring help greatly appreciated!

First of all, welcome to the GSR. What schematic were you looking at? I'm looking at the "early 8 valve GS750" schematic posted on Basscliffs website but didn't see the sending unit nor this 6 pin connector on it. Must be an older schematic from a bike that didn't have a fuel gauge, although I...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I went for a short ~50 mile ride this morning before the heat rolled in. I didn't get any good scenery pictures, but right as I pulled into the grocery store parking lot I snapped a picture of my odometer. 33,333.3 miles to be exact! I've been waiting for this number for a while. Also, I'm...

Finally back on the road again

Congrats! Can you share some details on how you built the trailer? I see bike wheels, did you recycle anything else from a bike? What did you make the frame out of? Any build pictures? Sorry for all the questions, I think it's a slick setup and might like to replicate it sometime.

    Getting to grips (with grips)

I had to file down the "ribs" on my throttle tube to fit the standard size modern heated grips to my bike.
