A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Split Petcock Vacuum Hose

Thanks. I was wondering how much of a difference that could make. I've suspected my problem to be primarily air leakage, but the new intake tubes and o-rings improved but did not solve the condition. The first 3 carbs I've stripped are in good condition, no blockages and the o-rings seem supple...

    Split Petcock Vacuum Hose

Well, I do strip the cover off of them first...usually :D I will have to replace it, not enough slack.

    Split Petcock Vacuum Hose

Thanks, good information. I was somewhat surprised these connections did not have clamps. I may use some spare wire (I have even been known to use bread-tie wire on small hoses :p) to better secure this hose.

    Split Petcock Vacuum Hose

In the process of re-doing my carbs, I happened to notice the vacuum hose was split where it attaches to the carb. I presume this does not help.

    Impact Driver Reversed

You are certainly correct on the quality of the bits. It's only about a month old, and I can see some deforming in the phillips bit already. I hope I can find some better quality bits that will fit it.

    Impact Driver Reversed

Well, I did a search and didn't see anyone else with this problem, so I guess it's just me.:D I was having a terrible time loosening some screws, even with the impact driver (Harbor Freight). Cut deep slots with the angle grinder and still would not break free. I don't remember what prompted...

    desperate on a stuck screw

Thanks very much. I'm headed to Harbor Freight for a Dremel-type (I see now why they are so valuable) and some other stuff. Maybe one of their tap-and-die sets has that size. If not, I'll try Ace.

    desperate on a stuck screw

OK I was able to remove the screw after a lot of "forward and back" motion. The threads on the screw look good. Does anyone know the thread size in case I need to chase the carb threads with a tap?

    What's been done here?

I posted a question in the Tips and Tricks yesterday about the air screw on my first carb disassembly being difficult. I had noticed but not thought much of a difference in the #2/3 air screw housings. #1/4 are intact, but 2/3 have been cut into. Any ideas why this was done? Is this a problem...

G&S Suzuki taking a long time?

I also ordered my intake tubes and o-rings from G&S. I placed the order on March 1 and received them on March 14. Could have gotten them from the local dealer a week earlier and $50 more.

    desperate on a stuck screw

Good thread. I've already used the slot-cutting trick to remove a few screws. My current problem is a stuck air screw. It acts like galled threads, easy to turn at the bottom but harder and then stops a few turns out. It's soaking in PB Blaster now and I'll try some heat later. Are there any...

    Pine Sol for carb dip

Hi - I've got the carbs off the bike and am about to disassemble them for soaking. I'm looking for any followup on the Pine Sol vs Berrymans/other dip results. Thanks
