I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    My new FJ1100 sport tourer

My new (old) sport tour I just bought. 1985 FJ1100..... I have been looking for the right 1983 GS1100ES, but nothing came up that I wanted, and I need a long distance sporty bike for the next summer. I've always read good things about the FJ1100/1200, and I like the style. This one is mint...

Has anyone ever done a dyno comparison straight cut gear vs helical gs1100e crank?

And this is after with a straight cut gear set

Has anyone ever done a dyno comparison straight cut gear vs helical gs1100e crank?

Terry, That information is absolutely spot on, real world confirmation. Using a 1/4 calculator, which in my experience is about 95-99% accurate, I get 16 additional horsepower, to the wheel! That is huge.... your above bike is a very typical hot street GS1100e. It should take 125 HP to the wheel...

Has anyone ever done a dyno comparison straight cut gear vs helical gs1100e crank?

Nessism- Yes, that is my understanding also, in and unto themselves the helical gear set is pretty efficient. But when you start spinning it at such RPM's as a race engine or hot street engine the side thrust loads would seem to go through the roof like Posplayr is saying. I'm not much of an old...

Cool, thanks. I need to get a crank done this winter.

Has anyone ever done a dyno comparison straight cut gear vs helical gs1100e crank?

I was recently talking to an old GS racer about the pros and cons of a straight cut gear set versus helical gears on a performance GS1100e build. He said that at 11,500 RPM the straight cut gear was worth an extra 18 HP....Hmm, as I have never done a back to back test personally, I am wondering...

    Nice CB900f for sale

I bought a 1982 CB750f in 1983, rode it for the next couple years. Was a great all around bike. Put a 836cc piston kit in it, a 4-1 Kerker with pods and a jet kit, a cafe style 1/4 fairing painted black, and removed all the striping, just all basic black, and a Lockhart oil cooler. I just might...

    Gs1000 Bonneville Bike

Well, this might give you an indication of the potential of a 1980-81 GS1100e, in a naked or un-faired class. This was one of the bikes for sale as a pair, being sold by the original owner, I posted earlier this summer to this thread and the bikes for sale thread. I guess this would be called...

    Gs1000 Bonneville Bike

Hmm, I just looked at the rule book again, and from what I see, under engine classes, PC equals "Production Classic", not pushrods? The reason for my questions is I have always wanted to give Bonneville a try.... and since I own a bunch of GS1100e bikes already, just kinda looking for the...

ERROR: European source of Shindengen SH-847 series reg/reg (turns out it's fake)

Yes, you are correct, the SH-847 is both larger than the stock unit, and the SH775. On my 1982 GS1100E, I just replaced the stock unit with a true SH-847 this last May, not an imposter or counterfeit one like most you see on EBay. Be vey very careful on any purchase of any product labeled...

1990 GSX-1100 Katana, good or bad? Ride report?

Especially if you use a good pipe and bigger carbs. Any idea what your finished weight will be? I would think the Katana engine would be quite a bit lighter, and a 4-1 pipe, and some GSXR wheels, you might lose 100 # or so off of a stock 1982 GS1100E at about 550 pounds stock?

1990 GSX-1100 Katana, good or bad? Ride report?

" The are pretty fast, basically early model Bandit engine with 100 less cc. I rode the one I bought around the neighborhood after I got it running again, I'd say it's pretty comfy, but that's what it's designed for, it's not a sportbike, it's a sport tourer. The specs I see are that the...
