A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1990 GSX-1100 Katana, good or bad? Ride report?

Anybody currently own or previously own a 1998-1992 era Katana 1100? I have an opportunity to buy one, in pretty decent shape, runs good, for exactly $999 bucks. The owner wont budge on his price. :) The windshield even still goes up and down, has 5,900 original miles. I kinda figure even if I...

What is the quickest e.t. old GS, street ridden and legal you know of?

Ok, did little digging around the net..... there s a nice write up on that bike in SSB or SuperStreet Bike magazine. My guess on the forks were close, they are 51mm not 50mm, and Piaoli not Ohlins, off of a Bimoto. The lowers are carbon fiber, very cool. And the owner has the exact same mindset...

What is the quickest e.t. old GS, street ridden and legal you know of?

That thing looks pretty nasty..... in a good way. Those forks very interesting.... leading axle conventional but look to be about 50mm? Are they some sort of Ohlins? I like the paint scheme.... decidedly not politically correct so all the PC types can get their panties in a twist..... If you can...

What is the quickest e.t. old GS, street ridden and legal you know of?

I have seen that list before, most of I agree with, a few are kinda far fetched I think. For my target goal or project, it will be highly modified, very user street friendly. Pretty much set on an aftermarket block at 1428cc, pump gas pistons, small aftermarket cams maybe 2 sizes over a stock...

What is the quickest e.t. old GS, street ridden and legal you know of?

When I talked with Dick at Speed Equipment about the head he did up, said it went 9.4 at 144 mph, at 1327cc or so, just the way it is now, bought from the original owner of the head. Has 26mm Exhaust and 28.5mm Intake.

    Happy Canada Day!

Seattle Mariners fans wish all a happy Canada Day! We got our special Canadian weapon on the mound starting today, James Paxton, AKA "The Big Maple", from British Columbia. Should be a good game. :)

What is the quickest e.t. old GS, street ridden and legal you know of?

I think this is what I had in mind, stock wheelbase, stock frame, street tire, lowered suspension a little but not so much it can't be ridden on the street, pump gas, hand clutch but air shift, no wheelie bar..... but I think I would want to trade the funny gas for an extra 200cc big bore? I...

Posplayr, do you have numbers for your bike for the following? What is the quickest e.t. old GS, street ridden and legal you know of?

Just kinda wondering what the quickest E.T. you guys know of, preferably with a real time slip, for a street legal and street ridden GS? No trailered bikes, no wheelie bars, no slicks, no slider clutch, just a regular hand clutch, just a bike either yourself or a buddy would ride to the track...

    Too close to home. Literally

Funny, but I still ride those roads,Avondale Rd to Woodinville-Duvall Rd to West Snoqualmie Rd, then up the back side of Novelty Hill Rd, then loop around to either Union Hill or Redmond-Fall City road, back past Ames Lake and head out to Fall City then Snoqualmie Falls, then west on I-90 to...

    Too close to home. Literally

Small world.... I live on Education Hill, I went to both Horace Mann Elementary, and Redmond Jr High through 7th grade. I would have been in 5th grade or so at Horace Mann in 1973. My kids went to all three schools, Horace Mann, Redmond Jr and Sr, and now my grand daughter went to Horace Mann...

    Too close to home. Literally

I kind of thought it was by Lake Wilderness..... Ironic name huh? My parents had a house out there when I was little, in 1965, in a little spot on the map called Covington.... wasn't a real town or city, just a spot on the map way, way out in the woods. And look at it now...... :( My place...

    Too close to home. Literally

Is this a few blocks east of Lake Wilderness ? Or actually Highway 169 ? The growth out there, or really the greater Seattle area/Puget Sound area, has greatly outstripped all the roadways. That highway needs to be rebuilt as a divided, limited access highway or turn it into a proper freeway...

Suggestions for a good handling vintage styled dirtbike?

I know this is an old thread, but..... if your really looking to get a decent handling vintage dirt bike, start with a 1981 Maico 490.... looks like a proper old vintage air cooled mx bike, twin shock, drum brake.... but freshened up and set up correctly, will hang with most any modern bike if...

    Gs1000 Bonneville Bike

The 1980 bike has about 2,000 original miles, and set all sorts of land speed records. The Katana has about 500 original miles total, even less on the built 1428cc engine. The seller has all sorts of cool documentation on the bikes history, pictures, news articles, magazine articles and ads...

    Tach rebuild service??? 1983 GS1100e

Took my new 1983 GS1100e out today for some test/shake down miles..... overall went pretty well, nice weather to boot. One item I need to address is the tach. It works, but the needle and or the mechanism is very loose or bouncy, and in general, not accurate at most RPM's. Anybody know of a good...

Always expect the worst, never disappointed?

It does, has Insulation test voltages of 50 V, 100 V, 250 V, 500 V, 1000 V. I figure if it can survive at 500 volts for 60 seconds, holding steady after it stabilizes after about 5-10 seconds, it's gonna be ok for the next couple months, till I get the time to order up and install a new stator...
