    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Horn relay mod

How many lifetimes would you have to live before you'd blow your horn enough times before you'd be sorry you did it the way I did it???:dancing:

    Horn relay mod

Oh, yeah!!! Oh, yeah!!! Good!! I didn't use it often but, when I did, it was really loud and it made me really happy (and, sometimes safer)! That's what a horn should do....and it did!!!!!

    Horn relay mod

It's been a while! It's been a while! OK....I don't have the bike to look at (sold 'er) and it's been a number of years, so I looked in the archives and found my post from June 16, 2006: (If I described it incorrectly on that post, at least maybe you can figure out what I did do.;))...

    Horn relay mod

Horn Horn That comes in handy when you're sitting in one spot trying to pick up chicks!:D When I had my GS750, the horn sounded terrible...if you could hear it. Instead of having the button complete the ground, I switched the polarity around and wired the positive from the button directly...

Help Want To Buy 1981 GS HELP!

Buddy Buddy It sounds like your buddy is going to be expected to do the work so it would be a good idea to see what he thinks about the whole deal.

    Babbitt's parts

Shipping Shipping The one (and only) time I checked, their shipping prices were 'sky high'.

    How Babbitt's Lost My Business

Foul Foul Babbitt's shipping prices are foul. If you can't decipher the shipping cost until the very end of the ordering process, you can pretty much figure you're going to get screwed if you continue.

Search Search Try typing "vee" into the search feature. If there's any information on them, you'll quickly find it.;)

Help. Stranded in Barstow, 2,500 miles out.

Maybe so Maybe so EXCELLENT advice....(I've been 'lucky' enough to have a couple of them.) By the way, if you don't have good flow, try putting a temporary hose on the petcock and blowing on it (back into the tank). You'd need someone to suck on the vacuum hose at the same time in order...

    Temporary Fuel Tank

Ebay Ebay I found a cheap one on Ebay several years ago and it has worked great. It has a nice shut-off valve and 'hanger' for the tank. I don't know if they're still available but the price was right.:)

    Temporary Fuel Tank

No No No, you don't have to worry about the flow (as long as it's enough) but having a shut-off is kind of handy when you're using an auxiliary tank. You can probably find one at the hardware store and install it at a convenient spot on the fuel line.:)

    broke down and puzzled...

Good Good Well, that's too bad but it's good that you know that now. If your plugs were fouled from too much fuel, I don't think sitting 20 minutes would do much to help. I'm gonna think about this for a bit....I'm guessing it's something pretty simple. I hope so!:) I hope you get it...

I read your post twice and you never mentioned taking off the gas cap.....surely, you did, right?? If for some strange reason, you didn't, you haven't ruled out vapor lock. There's certainly a good chance that it's not your problem but you might as well rule out the easy stuff first!!

old tires with tube to new tires without tube?

100 100 Once? It's been "thrown out" about 100 (or more) times....literally!:p (Hint: 'Search' feature!)

    broke down and puzzled...

Vapor Vapor I think Spyug 'hit the nail on the head'. I've had it happen on a couple of bikes and one car and the symptoms you described fit gas tank vapor lock perfectly. An hour and a half seems a little long but maybe your gas cap seal is really efficient. If it happens again, take off...

    URGENT... carb question.

Carb Carb I think $35.55 is way too much money but that's just my opinion. By the way, if you don't need a #1 carb, don't buy it.

    Is my bike High?

Altitude Altitude I don't think altitude is much of an issue. I live at about 1200 feet and have ridden over Donner Summit (which is slightly over 7000 feet) and never noticed any difference in performance, at all. Nobody I've ridden with ever noticed any difference, either.

Search Search I wonder if doing a 'search' would shed any light on the subject??? (I seem to remember that it's been discussed a couple of times in the past.)
