A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1980 GS1000 Petcock Instructions

Space Space Most of the large '80 models are 50mm but I'm pretty sure the GS1000G is 44mm. (The "E" is 50mm, for sure.) It always pays to double check!!

Just bought an 1100E, Can you help with some simple setup questions?

You bet! You bet! You're very welcome!:) Your carbs are the CV type (constant velocity) and they're easy as pie to rebuild/clean, as needed. I think most all of us have at least one of the shop manuals. I use both the official Suzuki shop manual and also the Clymer's manual. You can do quite...

Just bought an 1100E, Can you help with some simple setup questions?

The main thing you want to avoid is the 'energy conservation' oils, which tend to be extra slippery and can cause your clutch to slip. I used to use good ol' Pennzoil 10-40 (which is fine) but both of my GS's shifted (I sold my 750) very noticeably better with the Rotella-T. It really is good...

Just bought an 1100E, Can you help with some simple setup questions?

Great bike Great bike A. Regular is just fine and specified; anything more expensive is a waste of money. B. If you think the gas is old and stale, dump it and put in some new gas. I'd skip the stabilizer, for the time being. C. If you did a search here on the forum, you could spend days...

I think that's a good guess, Steve. I thought of the same thing.

    Intermittent Starter Failure

Click click Click click A good solenoid WILL click.....every time you start the bike! If the solenoid is getting power and it doesn't click, you've almost certainly got a defective solenoid. If anyone doubts this, I can tell you a very simple test you can perform that will convince you!

    Effects of weak battery?

Give it a chance.... Give it a chance.... He didn't say that it boiled out because he has no reason to think that it did (and there's a very good chance it didn't since he doesn't know when it was last checked and we're at the 'tail end' of a long, hot summer)....... but checking it wouldn't...

    Effects of weak battery?

Battery Battery If it runs good now (after adding water), I wouldn't do anything except ride it and check your battery level in a week or two. Since you don't know when water was last added, it may have simply evaporated. Ride it, have fun...and check it again soon. If the fluid level is low...

    Trouble removing Float Assembly

Great! Great! Glad you got it...you 'dodged a bullet' because those posts are pretty easy to break when the pins have been there for a long while. When you reassemble it, just barely tap them into place so that you have a little space to wedge in a tiny, flat head screwdriver (between the...

Oh, well! Oh, well! Thanks, but I'm not clever enough to figure it out! (I did try!):(

    ebay Dealers selling turn indicators?

Go for it! Go for it! Hi Willman, I've purchased a couple of inexpensive electronic items on Ebay that came from Hong Kong and everything went extremely well. I'd say just check out their Ebay "track record" and, if it looks good, go for it. Good luck and let us know what happens!!:)

How? How? How do you make a British Sterling Pound sign on a 'yank' computer??? (I've never figured it out.);)

    Aero Leather Clothing, Ltd.

It depends! It depends! It really depends upon what you want because they sell many different styles. Take a look at their website; it gives pricing with each. They ARE expensive, to be sure.

    Aero Leather Clothing, Ltd.

Leather riding gear isn't favored by everyone but if you're keen on it, I'd recommend you give these folks a look. They are located in Galashiels, Scotland and have a small shop with very few employees. All of their jackets are completely hand-made and one tailor does the work from start to...

    Anyone deal with Cycle-Recycle II?

Not me! Not me! I did business with them once and won't again. I ordered about 6 items and they got more wrong than right. I got it straightened out but I ended up paying for shipping back the stuff they got wrong. Having said that, I found Rob to be a very nice guy. In spite of that, I'd...

I'll sleep a little better knowing..

Rubber Rubber If you take the train from Singapore through Malaysia and into southern Thailand, you pass by zillions of rubber tree plantations and observe lots of tire advertisements. (Motor car racing is HUGE in Malaysia and motorcycle racing seems to be even more popular.) Indonesia is to...

    Is my Horn ok?

Yep Yep Yeah, I agree with Steve (as usual). There's just something about bike horns that never seems up to par. I first noticed it on my new '67 Honda S90 (in '67). When I had my 750, I changed it from a ground-completing circuit to a positive connection (reversed the wires) and wired...

    Starter Problems?

Shipping Shipping Babbitt's is a good outfit and so are a bunch of others but, make no mistake about it, you'll get absolutely screwed on shipping costs if you're not careful. Weigh that aspect carefully before you 'push the button'.:) If they don't give the shipping costs until the very end...

    Starter Problems?

Starter Starter You've now, most likely, got it narrowed down to either the starter or the wire from the solenoid to the starter (unlikely). Remove the starter, take it apart (very easy) and you'll likely find the problem quite easily. When you remove the starter, check to see if it's...

    right front blinker always on?

Blinker Blinker You can either ride the bike around in circles all the time or take the switch assembly apart and figure out what's going on.;) I suspect it will be pretty easy to figure out, once you get in there and take a look. The switch assembly is pretty primitive so it may be very...
