DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Please help support this site!

Thank you for posting a current link to donate. It made it much simpler than previous times. I've dropped the ball on my GS's and donations for almost 4 years now. Last family member's health, my health, getting ready for retirement. I did retire in June, but it's hard for me to to switch from...

I was looking for a winter project.........I found this!

It will take some work. Get the bike on a diet, brake update, change wheels to spokes for larger, better tires and go to a 18" front tire. Changing to a 18'' front wheel makes a big difference. It's fun when the track day guy's dont know what your running. It's also a good place to sort out a...

    Things I Made

I made the same type of valve adjuster using a piece of a hockey stick shaft. I found by using a larger knob, I had a little more leverage and was able to move the adjusting screw more accurately.

    Morning coffee race.

It maybe that the other riders are shorter as rich mention's. There was a rider in WSB named Reuben Xuas rode for Ducati who seemed rather tall. Fun to watch crawl all over the bike. In the above Suzuka race, the layout of the track, is very technical. A straightaway that is probably 2 cars...

    2003 Bandit Starting/Running Help

It runs, so I would tend to rule out electrical components. Poor grounds of any type all need to eventually be cleaned/updated in any case, so fix them properly and that area can now be eliminated from a probable cause. Dont rule out the carbs or fuel yet. It could be an air leak which is very...

    rear wheel bearings

I've used the mushroomed chisel method too. If stubborn, remove seal if present use a little penetrate overnight, little heat they will pop right out. Good advise on bearings, I would also advise to get sealed bearings, they dont go dry until there dead.

    Split the cases or no??

Freeze the seal overnight and heat the metal its going into. I used this method on bearings going into snowmobile suspension wheels. Mapp gas is hotter than propane, heats up a little quicker. Plumbers use it to save time installing copper water lines.

Breather Location when running K&N Pods

This is good solution although the filter is not needed. Any oil will be caught in the can then run the catch can vent to where ever you please. I ran mine out the back end like old Yosh race bikes. Not much oil was ever in my catch can when I road raced it, street riding will not be much...

    '83 GS1100E - outside my comfort zone

Before you strip the head apart, try poring about an oz. of gas down the intake and exhaust ports. If it holds gas, it's not leaking. Yes use new half moons on valve cover. Also, get a new o-ring for the tach drive.

    What clutch kit to buy

What kind of "kit" can you get for $300? Unless you or your best friend have a boring machine, the boring alone will cost close to $300. Fix the clutch problem first. As mentioned, if hard to shift, it's out of adjustment. Breaking the glaze as described works. Try it first with new oem springs.

Muratic acid works on gaskets also. Use a q-tip to apply and clean well after use. it can be very corrosive. I had good luck with WD-40 also.Let it sit overnight. Be gentle and be patient with a fresh razor blade. Touch/clean up with scotch brite and WD-40

    Front Fork Rebuild- What Items

Using new bushings, springs, emulators and oil will make a big difference. Ask if there is way to set up the emulators as I believe they are adjustable. I've always had mine done foe me and the emulators made a huge difference.
