A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    This will be interesting.......

I just watched the national news and it looks like the biggest threat is the ice, which will sweep from T X across the south, skipping FL. The news showed an incredible shot in MI, likely the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, horizontal blowing winds. How's our members there holding up? -51 in...

    GS550 Bottom End Rattle/Knock

There is so little clearance between the starter clutch and the starter gear that a loose clutch bolt will contact the gear. The last time I had to replace my starter clutch bolts, it turned out that the bolts I bought at Ace Hardware had heads that are .5 mm longer than the previous supplier...

    Rockauto is not BS!

After reading the Temu post, I just had to counter with an American company I need some suspension parts for my daughter's Cherokee, and none of the local chain stores stock them. Sigh, I'm old and long for the days of local part stores. Even the regional chains have been bought out. So, I...

    Looking good! New GSX 8tt

    Starter clutch woes

In the 46 years I've owned my 1000, I've had to reattach my starter clutch once or twice, but 2 years ago, it became a regular problem. Finally, after the second time in 2 years, I took the parts to my machinist. I could tell the 3 bolts were making contact with the starter gear. Measuring...

    Fuel tank issue

It's extra confusing because if you look at the commonly used parts fiche, under 1978, it will list a GS 1000, GS 1000C and GS 1000 EC. Then, as you look at parts, 79 models will also separately appear under carburators, fuel tanks and other items And, some fiches have dropped the GS 1000. I...

    Fuel tank issue

The UK 78 E has a different paint scheme, no red pinstripe, no gold pinstripe and a big white stripe on the top of the tank. Never seen an actual one, just pictures. Don't know of other differences, except the flat seat.

    Fuel tank issue

Yeah, I've had that discussion about whether C is a year designation, or a model. (I'm in the former camp) But, I long ago stopped being surprised by people not knowing there's a standard model 79 GS 1000 As to the gas tank, always worth saving
