A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Possible new owner - What's the consensus on GS1000G?

That is a stock 1980 paint job and decal pattern. in 1980 the available colors were blue or black, with that pinstripe stripe pattern. in 1981, available colors were dark red or black, with a more complex decal scheme. Turn signals are difinitely aftermarket.

The END is near (California guys)

Sure did. I married a daughter off, became a gandfather twice, and almost died twice in a two week period. One of those incidents resulted in a clinically-dead NDE (Near Death Experience). And managed to accumulate three more bikes in the proccess. Now if time would slow down so I could get...

The END is near (California guys)

Nothing has changed. I've been gone for the most part for eight years, checked in a little bit during Covid and saw the same thing as four years before. Same stink from the same sources, wafting down from the northwest.

    GS1100E shock rebuild?

Ryan, I dug through what's left of my used parts. No dice on old OEM shocks. I figured I'd tossed them all last year when we rented a 20' dumpster to clean out my shop. That will soon change. I've got some Hagons on order for my 1981 KZ550A. Once they're here, the old stockers are yours if...

    1983 GS550E: The Scenic Route

Treat the igniter with care. This is a part unique to the '83-'86 16 valve GS550 series, and is unobtanium, even a used one on ebay.. As far as the RM Stator reg/rec being a legitimate series regulator, I have no way of knowing for sure without dissecting one. But RMStator seems like a pretty...

Jdub goes there 1981 650e rebuild

That sounds great. The 550 and 650 are the quietest GS engines when finely tuned. My 650E engine is super quit. It literally sounds like a sewing machine at idle. Had an ‘80 550L that was really quiet too.

Possible new owner - What's the consensus on GS1000G?

In my opinion, the GS1000G is the best of the GS line. if I could only keep one of my bikes, that would probably be the one.

    GS1100E shock rebuild?

I recently did a huge purge of junk out of my shop, but I might still have some old worn out OEM Suzuki or Kawasaki shocks kicking around I could donate for the cause. I'll let you know if I find some.

    1985 GS700E ?s may get one

By the way, if you pass on it, please let me know. That looks like a pretty solid bike fir $1,000.

    1985 GS700E ?s may get one

I bought one new off the showroom floor almost forty years ago. Still have it. The engine loves to rev and it pulls hard above 6,000 rpm. They have the hottest cams Suzuki put in any GS. Other than the typical weak charging system issues, they’re pretty reliable. The shock will be...

Jdub goes there 1981 650e rebuild

I have a set on my Yamaha 750 Seca. They work fine. Inexpensive, too. About $6-$7 each.

Jdub goes there 1981 650e rebuild

Just an FYI for future reference, K&S is now offering NGK-style resistor caps. When there is a demand, the market will respond.

Jdub goes there 1981 650e rebuild

Looking fantastic! The GS650E is one of those sleeper UJMs that got overlooked, and it's a shame. Almost as fast as the KZ/XJ/GS/CB 750s, but much smaller and more nimble. My '82 is one of my favorites. It's been in sleep mode for about four years. Maybe this is the year I break it out as...

    '83 gs 100G

The OP stated he has an '81 850G, and looking at a GS1100G. I was comparing the '81 GS850G to a 1982/83 GS1100G. So yes, other than the seat shape, the GS1100G is superior in every way to the 79/80/81 GS850G. WAY WAY WAY more midrange power (50% more torque at 4,000 rpm). Better front end...

Tank Sprang a Leak While in Storage

Saw a thread that mentioned fuel tank repair. Responded there, but decided to start a new thread about it. Had a GPZ750 in storage for three years. When you have so many bikes, you decide at the beginning of the riding season whicch two or three you'll ride, and leave the others in log term...

    '83 gs 100G

Other than the shape of the seat, the 1100G is superior to the 850G in every way. The difference in midrange roll on power is pretty remarkable.

    Parts outlaw.. Whats up

I have received good service from Partzilla.com for years. Looking through my purchase history to 2018 (that's as far back as they list it), I've placed 13 orders ranging from $52 - $687 for dozens of OEM parts and never had an issue. They are also the only place I've found that list the...

Mikuni BS/CV and VM O-ring Kits

Hi Ed. I notice above you said you don't have a kit for the KZ550. I recently picked up a 1981 KZ550A with the TK 22mm VM carbs on it. The bike has sat for years. I haven't done anything to it yet other than check compression. If I sent the carbs to you and paid return shipping costs, would...
