DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    KZ production number??

Since they became the KZ700A in 1984, my guess is the KZ750L3 was made in Japan, not the USA. GPZ750 production was shifted from Japan to the USA in 1984 to keep their flagship sporting middleweight a 750 and avoid the tariff. As for USA numbers, it was quite a rare bird. Based on used parts...

    Champagne 83' GS1100E

Under fluorescent lighting, the '82 paint will look silver/grey. On a cloudy day, it looks more bronze. In direct sunlight, it has a slightly pink tint. I guess that is where "champagne" comes from. It's actually a grey base with gold metalflake, using a slightly smoke-tinted clearcoat. Like...

    '82 11e seat: leather?

Best (and probably cheapest) way to clean and condition these old seats I've found is with Kiwi brand Saddle Soap and Mink Oil. You can find them in the shoe polish section of any department store. Follow the directions on the cans, and in fifteen minutes you will have a clean, lustrous seat...

    Anti dive by pass plates

Timothy, Do you have a template for the anti-dive units on the 1981-1983 Yamaha XJ750? I didn't see them on your website. If you do, I'd be interested in purchasing a set. If you don't and are interested in creating them, I could send you units to use as a guide. Just let me know. Thanks.

EBay 1981 Kawasaki GPz1100 Local Pick up Machesney Park, Illinois

I'm looking at the factory service manuals right now. The '81-'83 Kz1000s and KZ1100s are all shim over bucket, both chain and shaft drive models. Kawasaki shims are 0.5mm smaller in diameter than Suzuki shims though.

I've got a set of BS36 Mikunis off of a GS1150. They'd slap right onto that bad boy without too much fuss. Only 4 1/2 hours away. Hmmm.....

Wintergreen oil for revitalising rubber parts

Resurrecting a dead thread because useful information is at hand now. Good YouTube video on rubber softening experiment using (among other things) wintergreen oil (Methyl Salicylate): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnGsllKvheQ Where to get it in industrial form for WAY cheaper than...

    Nitrogen in tires?

I don't buy it with the sensors. They've been installed in cars for about a decade now, and I would guess most of them are operating in at least partially contaminated nitrogen, if not 100% gas station/home garage produced saturated compressed air. I know my tires pretty much run that way...

What is this exhaust off of?

From ebay auction photo: Hmmm.....The stamping on my stock '82 1100E exhaust says "GS110X". No L on the end. The stamp on my stock 1000G exhaust says "GS100G". They aren't off an 1100G. The ends of the exhausts are tapered on the big G models. MY stock 1100G exhaust is stamped "DGM"...

They're not interchangeable. Also, the cutouts on the 1100F are a different pattern, and don't go all the way through.

I like how the owner of the Corbin-equipped 900F machined out triangular spaces in the footpeg mounts. That is a small detail the pops out to the eye.

Yup. Divide imp. gallon mileage by 1.2009 to get US gallon mileage. I used to spec out and sell diesel-powered generators and compressors all over the world. The quotes had to reference whatever system of measurement the locals used for fuel.

    Nitrogen in tires?

The EPA gave out tax breaks and direct monetary incentives to automotive shops to financially assist in purchasing N2 generators. They rationalized it by saying it "helped reduce greenhouse gases." As with pretty much all "green" industries, it's a scam to dole out government funds to...

Yup, I need to get mine cleaned up a bit, upgrade suspension components, and re-saddle it. If you notice, mine has the black CB1100F pipes on it. I have a set of really nice chrome CB900F pipes hanging on the wall. I may swap pipes out and sell the black ones. Nice oem CB1100F pipes fetch...

I think my brother usually got about 45-50mpg with combined riding in town and on highway. His was configured without all the luggage, like the maroon one.
