If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    1981 gs750 (gs750e) Retro Racer project

Hi Lars How are things going? On my side, I'm currently restoring a GS 1000 with a GSX 1135 engine. I'll look through your posts but I was wondering how you solved the throttle assy on your bike? Given that the control switches are becoming a rarity we are almost obliged to use suitable...

Starter motor compatibility GS 1000 to GS 1135

The number of teeth on the 1150 starter is higher than on the 1000 that's clear. The question is whether the 1000 starter will fit the 1135 engine when used with it's companion idle gear?

Starter motor compatibility GS 1000 to GS 1135

I'm rebuilding an 1135 engine but I'm missing the starter motor. As I have a starter motor from a GS 1000 T, I was wondering if it would fit with the corresponding Idle Starter Gear?

I also ran into an issue with the wiring of my coils.... In fact during one iteration of the bike setup, I had pulled a wire from one of the coils to an electronic tachometer. When I reverted the bike to OEM, it would refuse to take full rpm among other running issues! The reason was that I had...

Hi Lars, Normally you can rotate the banjos as you can see below on the probrake hoses. Braided brake lines for your SUZUKI GS 1000 S (GS1000) 1979-1981 fron, 79,95 € (probrake.de) I use the end of a drill bit and a pair of pliers to delicately turn the banjos.

    Pin out on 1135 CDI

I bought an 1135 CDI to go with an 1135 engine but I don't know how to connect the supply/coil side of the box? Can anyone tell me what colours go where looking at the connectors ?

The best book I read on the subject is : Motorcycle Dynamics by Vittore Cossalter. It's very technical but covers any question you might have about the dynamics of a motorbike. There's a chapter in particular that focuses on the role of the "normal trail" that aligns the front wheel with the...

For someone used to riding bikes, there's no danger in more trail, it's just a question of getting used to the different feeling. BMW with their R nine T for example has 108 mm and 27.8? of trail and rake. I would say that reducing the trail makes the bike more fun to ride in the twisties.

Hi Lars, I've looked into this some time ago: Basic maths for fork conversions (thegsresources.com) Basically lowering the front end by 1" will decrease the rake by 1 degree. This corresponds to your numbers. As you are not changing the diameter of the front wheel, the trail ( with the reduced...

Off idle hesitation following 1230 piston kit fitted to GS 1150

The problem got fixed by raising the needle by one stop. I'll look into the main jet after running in the new pistons and valves.

Off idle hesitation following 1230 piston kit fitted to GS 1150

Thanks Big T! It worked just fine by raising the needle one stop. In fact I had done this beforehand but got mislead by a blocked main jet that made me revert to the previous setting.

Off idle hesitation following 1230 piston kit fitted to GS 1150

My GS 1150 engine has been rebored 3mm to take the Wiseco 1230 piston kit. Since this modification, the engine hesitates just over the 1/8 throttle opening. Above that it will really fly. My carbs have the OEM jets with the OEM air box and filter. When decelerating it will also pop despite new...

    GS 1150 camshaft sprockets?

I'm rebuilding my 1100 Kat with an 1135 engine. The compression is on the low side with around 7 to 8 kg/ cmsquare. I suspect the timing of the cams is incorrect due to the fact I can't align the intake camshaft on it's horizontal mark while respecting the 20 link procedure. In fact I got the...

Katana build: gsxr rear wheel question

The modification to GSXR 11K sprocket carrier is done. It was shaved by 5 mm without any issue and the chain is now perfectly aligned with the 13 mm (probably 1/2 inch) front offset sprocket. There is no spacer on the left hand side of the wheel.

Katana build: gsxr rear wheel question

I measured the GSXR 11K sprocket carrier and I believe one can safely take 5 mm away. As I have two of them it's worth a try. At the same time, the sprocket bolts will also be cut 5 mm shorter

Katana build: gsxr rear wheel question

I've run into the same issue but with a 17X4.5 inch GSXR rear wheel . My 1100 Kat is using an offset front sprocket that brings the chain close to the frame but the rear wheel sprocket carrier is too wide forcing the wheel too far out to the right. I looked into the GS 500 sprocket carrier at 29...

I fully understand your logic: you find a model caf? racer and then try to duplicate it. Some time ago, I fell in love with this bike: https://www.custom-wolf.de/handmade-bikes/mocca-racer/ I bought the GSXR 1100 engine brackets including the Benelli swingarm (...
