    Looking for the shim spreadsheet

Does anyone have the link to Steve's infamous spreadsheet that helps calculate the correct shim size you need? I can't find it through the search function. Side note- anyone know what the stock shim sizes were that came with the 82 GS 650 G? We're stock sizes a thing back then? I'm guessing...

Engine cranking and jumping to 2000 RPM

Thank yall for the back up. Ive been debating with my partner telling him that we need to check the valve clearance and he was determined that we needed to sync the carbs first. (No need trying to win a fight with a woman. We're always armed with information to be right. Even if we're not right HA)

Engine cranking and jumping to 2000 RPM

After months and finally giving up chasing electrical ghosts, we rewired the bike, added some carb cleaner and the bike is now cranking and turning over. Something isn't set right on the carb because the throttle seems to be wide open the second the bike starts and the bike is trying to run at...

More rear braking problems w the GS 650

This is the rear master cylinder. Same concept? Hook it all back up and pump the break to see if the spring moves?

More rear braking problems w the GS 650

Alright I’m back to this post. So we rebuilt the yoke, but the rebuild kit didn’t come with instructions. I posted a picture above with the order I put the different components together. Used a c clamp and vice grip to get the c clip back in, however now the spring isn’t...

    Wiring gremlins/starter relay

We definitely will need to look into the stator. It makes absolutely no sense why we would be hearing noise....I'm wondering if a wire got crossed. Its looking like were going to have to go through this entire bike wire by wire. What a PITA. The new starter relay is working though so thats a...

    Wiring gremlins/starter relay

The pop was definitely electrical. He got shocked. Since then the starter relay stopped working. Just got a replacement in

    Wiring gremlins/starter relay

So this is my understanding of how the wiring is supposed to go- Battery comes out and feeds into fuse box and the starter relay. Then there?s an additional circuit that comes through the fuse box and hits the starter relay. From the starter relay from there goes to the ignition and then...

More rear braking problems w the GS 650

Yes, it?s a rebuild kit w the OEM parts He drilled out the piston already (he?s a tradesman)?. I?ll try the rebuild kit on this part and if the rear caliper still isn?t engaging w the rebuilt master cylinder, I?ll check out eBay and hope the replacement parts ordered aren?t also seal shut w...

More rear braking problems w the GS 650

yes this is an absolute nightmare. I?m considering looking for a new part on eBay. My man is saying we just need to drill it out, but he?s got to be careful since it?s a machined part. Damn braking system! Between the wiring gremlins and this stuck piston, this rebuild is really throwing us some...

More rear braking problems w the GS 650

Ok so we got an awesome air compressor and it’s still not coming out so I think we’re going something wrong. I uploaded my photos to a hosting site so they’re viewable. The rebuild kit didn’t come w instructions, so I laid the parts out how they go. The last photo is the “cup” that I think we’re...

More rear braking problems w the GS 650

Sorry guys. I?ve been caught up w the holidays. Part number 2 is stuck inside the yoke. Yes I removed the snap ring. I didn?t realize my pictures were coming in so small. the rebuild kit came w a new piston. The piston sits in the part that I was calling the yoke (it?s the portion above part...

More rear braking problems w the GS 650

I can?t get the spring go go inside of the yoke. When I disassembled it, there was no spring goes against the parts diagram you posted. I?m guessing there?s an old spring stuck inside but I don?t know how to get that part open

More rear braking problems w the GS 650

Not getting any traction on this post. Any idea if there?s someone I can send this part off to, or would someone be able to lead me to a new part? I?m assuming there?s a piston stuck in this piece. I can?t get it out, and I?m not even quite sure I?m attempting to get it out correctly.

    Shortening shock length

To my understanding, stock shocks on the 82 Gs650 is 13. Would it be possible to fit 12 inch shocks? Im not asking for a lesson in geometry and trail. I realize shorter shocks would be increasing my trail. Basically, I have 12 inch ohlins that I just installed on my sporty, but they?re not the...

More rear braking problems w the GS 650

Ok I?m utterly confused right now. I have the rebuild kit which of course comes w no instructions. im assuming the old piston is seized up inside up I?m not sure how to get it out or if The old one is really where I ever think it is. For the part that is sitting on the needle nose tool, is...

    Nylon Spacer for Dyna Coils

The stock mounting fits the 3ohm coils, including the stock metal mounting. I?m getting very very weak spark & it was my understanding that the metal mounting bolts were creating a ground. Is that assumption off?

    Nylon Spacer for Dyna Coils

Would anyone here be able to fabricate the nylon spacers needed for the 3ohm coils for the dyna s? Or do you know where I could buy said spacers?

    Front Fork Rebuild- What Items

Can anyone help me determine if these are all the parts I would need for the rebuild, excluding the sonic springs and cartridge emulators? All of the below parts amount to 162 dollars, unless i get aftermarket gaitors (which I might do cause I like the look of those better than the dust seals)...
