    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1982 GS850G color question

Does anyone remember the 82 850 color that was a real unique blue/green? My brother had one like that and we can't seem to find another picture of one in that paint color. Wonder if anyone knows what it was called or if you would have a picture or color sample.

    Oil filter

Bob, I never seemed to have a problem with the Fram and I ran them for 15 years on the 1100. No deforming or mysterious stuff found in the pan. I have a few K&N and Royal Purple that came with the new Bandit but I'll see if Wix has one that will fit it.

Advance Auto usually has the Fram filters. I'd grab a couple when I saw them on the shelf.

Cheap prices at Batterymart and Batterystuff. What do you think?

Ah, I stand corrected. And I agree, the wet batteries are a thing of the past. Believe it or not, Motocross is manufactured in the same factory, the same assembly process, at the same time as the Yuasa. The only difference is the label applied at the end of the manufacturing process. Motocross...

Cheap prices at Batterymart and Batterystuff. What do you think?

I think Yuasa sells the Scorpion as an off brand to keep the premium name on the main line of batteries. I've ordered several AGM batteries from batterystuff over the years. In fact I remember getting a Scorpion for the 1100. But the last 2 that I got from them for my Bandit died in a couple...

    Grip Glue.....

Golf club grips used two sided tape. Little squirt of lighter fluid in the grip and slide them on. Did a bunch of them that way.

    Fairing or windshield recommendations?

I run the National Cycle Deflector on my 82 1100GL and I like it. Works well, but you might want to go a little bigger.

    Storage prep.orage t

I'm with Steve. For the last 14 years, I've added a red Sta-Bil to the last tank or two before storing the bike. Top off the tank with gas and I don't drain the carb bowls. Lastly, I do a fresh oil change. Never had an issue come spring.
