If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    My Crash Last Weekend

Sorry to hear about that and damage to the bike, but glad you are ok and escaped serious injury. But that gravel rash still smarts a bit does`nt it !. Came off my CX500 "Betsy" a while back, my own fault, loose gravel on a tight bend. Ended up on my back in the middle of the road, bike 20 yards...

    First "Fun" Ride Since Resto

Great to see you out and about again matey !. And does`nt Gessie look fantastic too, you did a good job fixing her up again. Enjoyed the pics, makes me wish I can get back to California again, had a great time there back in 85. Supposed to be summer over here now, but it`s colder than a witches...

    I can't see why...

Thanks for cheering me up, been a crap day until I saw that, had a good laugh. Wonder if there was a typo error, maybe meant $20.00 !. Be interested to know why he feels he can only explain what the tank needs in person !. Clutch works though, once its been connected up.

    Banjo bolt with bleeder screw

I`ve had them fitted to both my GS750`s for a few years now, as the caliper bleed nipples were corroded solid and sheared off when trying to free them. They do work, but it can be a fiddle on to get all the air out as ideally the banjo bolt bleed nipple needs to be vertical, which it is`nt when...

Where to get carb dip in the UK

I`ve also drawn a blank trying to find carb dip over here. Was told by a guy at a local chop shop that it used to be readily available, but is`nt allowed to be sold now. Probably down to all the OTT Health & Safety crap we get these days !. Thanks for the tips though Hampshirehog, will give that...

not sure if this is the right area, sawsall???

What a boring world it would be if everyone kept their bikes standard !. One of my GS750`s is chopped, with the frame cut off just behind the rear shock mounts. I put in a brace between the ends of the frame at this point which also provides a fixing point for the rear mudguard. Been riding the...

Bike won't start when it's cold - too rich?

The vent tube trick is best done before trying to start the bike. Like Almarconi says, a couple of puffs into each tube, pull up the choke, then try the starter but without using any throttle.

    Letting Loose

Yep, there are some crazy people out there !. Like I said nothing could be proven, but it did seem odd to me that all the nails we found on the road were bent, help them flick up into a tyre ?. The cafe was also raided by the cops a few months later too, following an anonymous tip off that there...

    Letting Loose

Yep, know the feeling. Couple of years ago I was heading to a biker cafe near where I live on my GS750 chop. It was out in the sticks, set up by a guy in the garden of his house and was quite a popular meeting spot for all types, cruisers, crotch rockets, streetfighters etc. Anyway, I had just...

    Stuck Valve Shim GS850G

Hi CCMcC, might seem like a daft question but I take it you have the bucket positioned so you can use the notch in the top edge to get the screwdriver so you can prise out the shim ?. I guess if you`ve already removed & replaced the shims you will have but its the obvious question to ask first...

Hi rustybronco. Sorry, I did`nt mean to come across sounding offended or defensive, I know you were`nt having a dig or anything. You are right though in that there must be a reason for it. Thats the trouble when we write, can sometimes come across the wrong way. Much easier if we could sit down...

Hi Matchless & Rustybronco. I`m sure the choke works ok, like I said I only need to use the trick when the bikes been stood a few days. If I`ve been riding say the day before, in cold weather I have to use choke to get the bike started next day and it starts ok. I know that a lot of people don`t...

    Plywood seat base

When I chopped my 750 a few years back, I used an old aluminium road sign. The metal was about 4mm thick, easy to cut & bend. Trouble now is that they have started to use plastic over here, so the metal ones are harder to get.

    wont start

Hi Rustybronco. I agree blowing into the tubes forces a bit of fuel through, but when I had the carbs stripped a few years back I know all the passageways were clear, used carb cleaner, guitar string & compressed air. Still needed to blow into tubes to start it after the bike had been off road a...

    wont start

Hi Matchless, no offence taken, I quite agree that there must be something amiss. I guess I`m a bit old school in that provided the bike runs well I leave things alone. I`ve just got so used to having to blow into the tubes its become part of the starting procedure !. Only required if the bikes...

    wont start

Don`t know why it works, my best guess is that it force primes the carbs. It`s worked on my old CX500 and a mate`s CB750 too. Although I`ve had the carbs stripped and cleaned as best as I could, I`ve still had to blow start the bike !. However, I did`nt know about "cycle O rings" at that time...

    wont start

That breather pipe trick has nearly always worked for me. First shown it by an old biker buddy many years ago after I rebuilt my 750. The bike still will not start without it, but has always run great once its going. Several thorough carb strip & cleans since have made no difference, so I just...

Hi Raider. Before doing any work on the carbs, try first turning the petcock to prime for about 30 seconds then turn back to the normal position, then put on full choke and try to start her up. If that fails, try blowing into each of the two carb breather pipes a couple of times. Pull on the...
