I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Restoring another down and out GS - Justin's GS1000G story

Thanks for the heads up on the Molly, I'm using Lucas Heavy Duty red and tacky grease, it's been super effective on my other bikes but will look for a molly based lube. Any recommendations?

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Some great shots, wow guys. Living through you! I'm so buried by work, customer's bikes and #Dadmode I haven't ridden much this week. I think I'll ask the wife I can sneak out on the Monkey. Keep posting your adventures. Something to look forward to resuming once Willa is old enough to...

Restoring another down and out GS - Justin's GS1000G story

Day 1 So walked out to the GS and found a flat rear tire. Seemed to have found a nail on my travels home with the bike. So I decided to just swap on the rear 130 70 17 tire I had in stock. My little helper approved of the decision. I took off the crappy exhuast, I sprayed the head bolts with...

Restoring another down and out GS - Justin's GS1000G story

So decided to start this thread to document as I go through a restoration of a 1980 Suzuki GS1000G that I traded my restored GS550E for. I guess this is a story about how 2 Suzuki's that were saved and restored to something of their intended functional states so they could be continued to be...

    Offered a (mostly)complete 1980 GS1000G for my 78 550E, what to do?

I'll start a new thread on the restore, I discovered new carb boots, new air box boots, new gaskets on the valve cover and clutch cover. Someone put some love into this bike (The PO didn't ride it much) to make it run well, and that it does!

    Offered a (mostly)complete 1980 GS1000G for my 78 550E, what to do?

Compared to the 550 this thing is going to be far more enjoyable for me in the mountains. The frame feels solid however with the crap suspension I can't really get a good feel on how the bones of the bike are compared to the 550. I was thinking the same thing but they did a decent job at...

    Offered a (mostly)complete 1980 GS1000G for my 78 550E, what to do?

Haha love the sarcasm For a 42 year old motorcycle (older than me), damn straight I'm impressed with torque. It doesn't Compare to the Max, The B-King, the Concours 14, etc.... I've owned but for the vintage it's a darn impressive.

    Offered a (mostly)complete 1980 GS1000G for my 78 550E, what to do?

So I did decide to swap my 550E for the 1000G. It needs work, brakes are bad, suspension is shot and the turn signal lights are all wonky. However the Engine is PHENOMENNAL Holy cow does that thing make some power north of 7K RPM. The stock bars came with the bike and they will be going on ASAP...

    Offered a (mostly)complete 1980 GS1000G for my 78 550E, what to do?

I had the guy shoot me a pic of the inside of the tank. It looks good! I had a great ride on the 550E this AM, it was a nice relaxed ride, I was looking for some extra power as I usually do on it this morning to attempt a pass but never did. it's not a bike you can just get around things on...

    Offered a (mostly)complete 1980 GS1000G for my 78 550E, what to do?

Thanks guys, I'm still contemplating it, the market just opened up a mint GS1100L that doesn't run which might fit my fancy more... But I did ask for close up shots of the bike and the more I look, the more it make me look sideways. He's changed parts (bars and no mirrors). The tires also don't...

    Offered a (mostly)complete 1980 GS1000G for my 78 550E, what to do?

I am not a fan of the exhuast, the more I look at it, the more I cringe. Yamaha FJ is going to be sold come Monday, just sold a Vulcan 750 I restored and made good profit on that. So I have some spare coins on the Jedz Moto books I could use for a 4-1. Cheers!

    Offered a (mostly)complete 1980 GS1000G for my 78 550E, what to do?

I know he's a Jedz Moto subscriber. Name is Pete, my age with kids and a wife and owns a house on the Vermont side of the Connecticut river valley, He loves the 550E and has watched my 550E video a few times. He ride a Verses 650 as a daily rider and the GS1000G is too big for him to enjoy, also...

    Offered a (mostly)complete 1980 GS1000G for my 78 550E, what to do?

May god bless the Ugly. Knowing the Ugly is a 1000G that know has me sold. THe 550E is definitely not a bike I'd want to do a big trip on but I would like to get out to GS rally on a GS. I'll check it out next Tuesday. I just got back from a ride on the 550 and it's just a cream puff... Not...

    Offered a (mostly)complete 1980 GS1000G for my 78 550E, what to do?

Greetings So I was recently offered a good running GS1000G to trade for my GS550E that I just restored. I personally like the idea of getting on an 8V 1000 because I know they are bullet proof. Bike has 35K miles (mine is pushing 29K). I secretly am trying to get back to a GS that rides like my...

    Pic of the week game

Can attest Joe is insane, he taught me that yes, you can get from Cleveland Ohio to Deposit NY in 4 hours. Haha he told me that everything is close if you cruise at 120 mph. Truth in that, spoken like a true crazy. Eli69 gets my vote this week
