A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Went North up HWY 55 as far as the 45th parallel. Nice ride up through the canyon with plenty of campers and trucks pulling boats to blast past between the twisties  About 250 miles in all... Stopped just past Cougar Mountain Lodge looking back down past one of the few plateaus to the...

    clutch rod seal install.

I'm afraid I agree with Ed, sealer isn't going to work I don't think. I tried that with "right stuff" let it sit for 24hrs and it still popped right out as soon as the engine was turned over, made a big mess all over the floor.... again!

    clutch rod seal install.

It was when I was looking for the 250, few years ago now though boy how time flies. It'll take some digging to find it I suspect, seem to recall all I could find was the non-flanged on parts lists.

    clutch rod seal install.

Maybe you've already dug out this old thread of mine and read it but I suspect the 450 may have gone through the same or similar evolution as with the 250 engine cases. Look at post #26, it describes how the engine cases of the 250 are of two types - early and late. The early cases only accept a...

1980 gs1000gl front caliper rebuild kit.

If the piston is stuck use pliers, grips or similar and push slightly inward to break if free first. Exercise caution with the compressed air when pushing it out though, make sure the piston can't get away from you. I almost brained a neighbour once I thought was way out of range.

    1982 GS550M Katana Rebuild

Good to see you post up again Mike! I was just rereading this thread the other day because I'm about to redo the front forks on mine. I remembered you'd installed replacement sonic springs and wanted to find which version you used. The 550 kat springs were only used on 2 other models the '81 &...

Bought a project bike and am new to motorcycles, could use some help with diagnosis

OEM gaskets are typically available from the parts list at your favourite online retailer, think one of the most frequently used by form members is partsoutlaw. I have "an arrangement" with a local dealer that gives me dealer prices on the parts I need so don't tend to order much online any...

Go to the sites Chuck listed for you. At the first, also download the manual for your machine from the middle of the top section and refer to page 28 where it details the valve clearance adjustment. All the clearance and tolerance values are shown there along with the correct method for...
