All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Weird ? Idea for leaky Sprocket Seal

That very concept was one trademark of Chicago Rawhide (CR Industries), which used to be the world's largest oil seal manufacturer (when I worked there). SKF now. They made a sleeve called a Speedi-Sleeve that fit over the worn shaft, giving a new wear surface. This was matched with an oil...

Found cause of fuse blowing, but how come?

That's the creature you're looking for. As with anything else, there's a risk involved with a used electrical item. I found my SH775 on eBay and it worked just fine. I'd personally take the risk with that seller. Some will argue that new is the way to go.

Picked up a non-Suzuki the other day.

Me too. That was back when the Japanese knew how to design beautiful motorcycles instead of Transformers. The V65 was a gorgeous bike. Their 700S and 650SC were on the showroom all at the same time.

Can someone point me at an appropriate thread?

Better than makeshift. Just use a digital caliper; use it as a depth gauge. Works great, and it'd be tough to beat the accuracy.

    Possible purchase

Considering that it's a 23-year-old bike, I think the suggestion of a specific Kaw forum is good for pre-purchase research. A stator could be a fairly standard R & R, but a forum will (collectively) know the quirks and oddities to look for overall, and maybe save you $$$ or steer you from a...

Things I probably won't do with a Goldwing...

But the guy's good. Especially the action at around 2:15. I should be at least half this good, but I'm not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOWBwNQ3x7M

Good Day Have Some Electrical Questions!!

Wow. I think step #1 would be to wait until you have a working environment that's a little more suitable to human life. I take it you mean -20C, right? Which would still be -4F! That's one chilly workshop! 'A' for determination, though.

National Cycle Windshields on a Gs1000g

I've used the full-sized Plexifairings way before there was such a thing as the Plexifairing III. My early ones were just about perfect for me, on my original '79 GS850, although a bit shy of airflow in really hot weather. I put many thousands of miles on those fairings. My later versions...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

That's truly a shame; you mentioned that possible failure in your first post about that bike. It's odd that when I look at used listings for that bike, many of them have upward of 130,000 miles on them. Maybe the owners are in the habit of disassembling the bike every winter. ? ... and...

OEM or Motion Pro clutch cable?

I have never, ever heard anything but negative (and usually profane) comments about the MotionPro clutch cables. I'm not sure I'd want one even for a spare, since there's the effort involved in changing the cable out.

    Rock Auto

If you can handle Advance Auto instead, there's a $50 off $125 coupon floating around. Check Fatwallet, and search on 'Advance Auto'. I used it yesterday and got some much-needed parts that I had been procrastinating about.

ABS is it that much of an improvement? What are your real life opinions?

When your bike's front tire is sliding, you're not steering anymore -- and soon enough, you're not vertical anymore. That's an obvious concern. A second concern is the reluctance to lay into the front brake to avoid the first possibility. So, either you're screwed by not using your full...

Air mixture screw small metal washer question --- Help Please!

There's actually a spec for these -- milspec, or US Navy, or something, don't quite recall. If I can find it, I'll post it. That way, if my supply dries up or something, whoever reads this will know how to find them. Unfortunately, when I bought them, they were only in quantities of 500, but...
