A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1980 GS1000ET back from the dead.....I hope.

Hi James. The Yanks declared war on us in 1812. Not that well known over here as it's seen as a bit of sideshow to the main event (beating Napoleon). Good to see you getting on with the GS. Your old S is still in the garage. She's done a good few miles since I picked it up and has been used...

    Suzuki GS1000E Valve Clearance check

The key measurement of the cam chain is the distance between the 20 pins - or is it 21? The workshop manual remembers better than me and it will give you the measurement limits as well. If it's in spec it's OK.

    Suzuki GS1000E Valve Clearance check

You could add .05 to all those by going a shim one size thinner or leave as they are - they're all in spec though at the bottom end. If you know what size shims are in there already you might get away with a shim shuffle and just need one or two new ones.

Vm22(gs500/550)1978 carb question(new question about jetting and 4-1 exhaust)

Vm22(gs500/550)1978 carb question(new question about jetting and 4-1 exhaust)

The hoses going to your carbs are: Fuel line. Hopefully obvious, the fat hose that goes to the tee. Fuel tap vacuum hose. I think its on #3 but can't remember. However, its the odd one out of the remaining 3 and its on the intake side of the carb slide. The 'other 2' , a matching pair on the...

    Carburetor misbehaving

Sounds like you need to strip your carbs and give them a real cleaning. You'll have to get those screws out - I've not seen screws yet that can't be removed (loads of tips on here about how to get the blighters out). If the shop used heat to shift them they may have buggered the o rings for...

    1965 Honda Super Cub

I dream of 6 bhp and 45 mph... My wee PC50 develops just 1.8 bhp and can get up to 31 mph with everything in its favour. 250 mpg mind. Enjoy riding your new cub. I love riding mine (just don't go too far from home...).

    GS750DB front brake specs

The DB used the same form legs as the E (or G for that matter). Any of the E or G discs will fit including later slotted type. Similarly E calipers will plug straight in. Best would be the 82 onwards from the 850G. GL calipers won't fit because of the leading axel offset.

Frame respray myself OR pro shot blast / powder coat

You'll start a fight... Personally I think I've moved from satin to gloss but I might change my mind again. Blast and powder coat for a frame near me is about ?100. Add all the other black bits for about ?75. If you're just after a cheap and cheerful job and doing it yourself...

    Cheap tank respray - 1980 gsx250e

We don't have 'proper' Hammerite any more. They toned it down a few years ago because of the volatiles. Still ok paint for brushing on to rusty old metal though.
