DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Fitting a gs1000e delkevic 4-1 on 1982 gs1100E ????

Marving make a nice system for the 1100. Have you had a look at them? Their pipe fits both the 750 and the 1100 - the Delkevic system might as well.

1978 GS550 Upgrade Rear drum to disc

You can replace everything with parts from a spoked wheel 750. Having said that the 550 had a decent rear drum on it and in my opinion you're better off keeping what you've got.

    Checking top-end while on frame

Yes, there's enough room to remove the head with the engine in the frame. If you're taking off the head you might loosen off the cylinders and create a base gasket leak so best to pull the whole top end while you're at it. Use genuine gaskets only to reduce the risks of leaks on reassembly. Or...

    What did I do wrong

Are the cam caps you are using matched to the cylinder head? They are line bored together and if yours aren't a matching set the cams might be being held too tightly.

GS1100G Front Brake Calipers on an GS850G?

Yes, the rear brakes, both callipers and rotors or discs as we call them are interchangeable.

GS1100G Front Brake Calipers on an GS850G?

The calipers will work with both types of rotors (discs) but the later slotted type would be better.

GS1100G Front Brake Calipers on an GS850G?

They'll plug straight on. Edit. Unless one bike is an L and the other isn't.

    Early Honda CB750 question...

Have they got the metering holes in the side of the airscrews? If so try soldering those holes off - they often let too much air in and you can't adjust the richness level enough.

    Squeaky Brakes, Caliper Upgrade???

The later callipers plug straight in and they provide much better braking. If you buy second hand (probably have to) give them a good overhaul before fitting ie clean / replace the pistons (fit stainless and they'll last forever), new seals and dust covers (though the later aren't needed with...

Feeler Gauge Wont Go Through Cam Lobes

The workshop manual details how to do this and gives the maximum amount that can be taken off.

    GS1000s fuel gauge repair

Some UK STs had the same dash as the SNs and I believe all US STs did as well (85mph speedo excepted). Our other STs had the same dash as the E models and that sounds like the one you have. The needle does hang down from the top.

    GS1000s fuel gauge repair

You probably have the same gauges on your ST as the E model. I can't say for sure as different markets got different set ups but take a look at photos of 1000E tachos on the interweb and if you're looks the same it is the same. If your gauges are the same as the SN model then there is no direct...

    1980 gs550e - headlight replacement (UK)

I'd take a guess on your headlight originally belonging to a GT. They dallied with sealed beams on the UK models for a while - I think 380, 550 and 750 circa k,l and m models. I can't recall ever seeing one in a GS.

    Strange compression test results..

I think you may have answered your own question and it is carb synch. Certainly worth checking.

If you've got BS carbs the Katana 550 dynojet kit is available. If you've got VMs the needles are adjustable.

42.8 mm pistons were fitted in the single disc models and 38 mm pistons in the twin disc models.

    Gs 550 callipers

The later square pad type (there are actually 2 very similar but different square types) are a little larger than the round pad type. All 3 twin disc set ups are plug and play (though avoid the leading axle calipers from the L and some GSX bikes - they don't fit). The later type offer quite an...

    Fork caps replacement

Yes you can. You'll need to match the thread and the depth as they compress the springs a bit though you can always play around with spacers to set your suspension up how you want it
