A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Piston Pin Buttons?

Every now and then I see/hear comments that the buttons may cause glazing of the bore walls in long term street use. I wonder if there is any truth behind this?

    Pre Splined Sprocket Shafting

No idea about where to get splined shaft blank, sorry. I guess you will have hard time finding it. Just for curiosity, how much offset you need? If it is any "normal" offset like 10-15mm I guess it's easier and cheaper just buy one. One good source is XAM Japan: http://xam-japan.co.jp/en/ Their...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

That high idle means the engine must get too much air from somewhere. Have you already adjusted the throttle stop (idle adjustment) to minimum? As you noticed the ignition timing affects to idle rpm quite strongly. The VE table has only secondary effect to the idle rpm. You want to tune the VE...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

I have never tried the ITB mode as I mainly play with boosted engines and the ITB mode doesn't support them. But even plain Alpha-N works very well on this kind engines. And you can combine MAP value on it by selecting "multiply MAP" option which basically scales the injection amount by MAP...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

Yes, it has been like that every time I have bought these sensors. In Europe they seem to cost about $40 each and in USA $10-20. And for some reason every seller in USA likes to charge around $50 for shipping which is quite steep as you can often get similar packages shipped for $10-15. So yes...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

Nice work with timing markings! How they will be done on actual metal parts? It's worth of noting that this VR sensor isn't tested with 36-1 wheel of that size. So there is a risk that teeth width and spacing gets too small for the sensor. Though it might work just fine. And I can still...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

Why you think those two coils are not suitable? If you are worried about current draw keep in mind those are just peak values of the current. Average current during dwell period is roughly a half of peak current. And shorter the dwell time longer the coil stays unpowered over an engine...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

The stock coils should be quite tolerant for "wrong" use like staying powered during firmware load. 3 ohm primary resistance limits current to low enough level to prevent them burning or melting if they stay powered for short period (like some minutes). I think even the stock ignitor may keep...

    1229 Wiesco instructions

As far as I know the idea is to space the end gaps evenly around the piston. Actual orientation of each ring doesn't matter that much.

    1198 or 1229

I have a stock 1150 block bored to 1229cc on my turbo GS. It has been in use for few years now. No problems with oil consumption and leak down and compression figures are still good. So based on this I would say that liner wall thickness isn't a problem yet. As far as I know the 1150 block can...

    external oil lines to head

I'm not an expert on 2V engines but typically oil to external lines is taken from the main gallery. This mean that there is the same pressure at the starting point of the external lines and original oil ways. So blocking the oil ways won't make any change to pressure on the head. As far as I...

Loctite types used for slotted sprocket bolts

Suzuki recommends using "thread lock super" which is harder one of two thread locks mentioned in the workshop manual. I have been using hard lock made by CRC. It's quite hard stuff but the bolts can be still opened without heating. No idea what would be equal product from Loctite. Apparently...

Got myself half a K2 Gixxer. How to fit the susp. on my GS?

If you are going to use the GS axle you can make bushings to fit the GS bearings to new swing arm. Might be simpler and easier that way.

    GSX Katana forks on 1100E?

Back in the days I installed forks and wheels from a Katana 600 (GSX600F) on my 1100E. The front forks were quite all right after full rebuild and stiffer springs but not a huge improvement. Same goes with the brakes, clearly better than original ones but still they could be better. Swap was...

    Best Bang for the Buck?

This attitude seems to be surprising popular here and that's something what I don't get. This forum is called "The GS Resources" and this is "Performance/Tuning/Mods" section after all. Sorry for rant...

EFI Gurus needed. dragbike efi swap

Yes, it's probably doable and in drag racing use the limitations aren't that crucial. But what's the point? Why to bother with all required workarounds and compromise performance when there are more suitable ECU units available? And if WOT performance is the only important factor then there...

EFI Gurus needed. dragbike efi swap

Here are few things that I have noticed with the Gen2 ECU: -no injector dead time parameters adjustment -no acceleration enrichment tuning -no warmup enrichment tuning -no calibration for most of the sensors For example if you change the injectors it's pure luck how well dead time matches to...

EFI Gurus needed. dragbike efi swap

IMO there isn't much sense to try adapt the Busa ECU to other engines. The tuning software (EcuEditor or Woolich) isn't flexible enough for that. You just can't tune many parameters that are important if you are making major changes to the setup. Sure it's doable but it will need many...

    83 Factory Welded Crankshafts

I had about 200hp on my previous turbo engine. 83 engine and the clutch was only modified part in the bottom end. No problems with the crank. Though local crank builder told me that there are quite lot variation in the cranks from the factory. Some of them even exceed the factory limit for...

EFI Gurus needed. dragbike efi swap

Electric vs. mechanical pump selection is up to you. If you want to see all the effort to fit a mechanical pump to save battery. If you are looking for simple and cheap installation then electric pump is better option, IMO. For 200hp almost any electric EFI pump will do. 300hp with...
