I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

I have few spare pieces of those 24-2 wheels. I can sell one for quite reasonable money if you like. Or even complete trigger set once I have verified it works ;)

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

Some food for thought for trigger wheel implementation. Here is the setup that I have been using by this far. It uses two hall sensors, the trigger wheel is made of aluminum and there are magnets mounted in the wheel to trigger the sensors. The wheel is mounted on the crank with a short...

Can factory 650 pistons handle boost?

Charger sizing sounds pretty good. 1:1 drive ratio will result about 7psi boost, in theory. And maximum speed for the charger seems to be 16000 rpm so there is some headroom to rise the boost if needed. I'm not sure about atomization. The compressor may help atomization to some degree but on...

Can factory 650 pistons handle boost?

Just get AFR and ignition timing right and maybe drop compression to 8.5-9:1. Should be fine for 8 psi and pump fuel.

Can factory 650 pistons handle boost?

Considering this forum section is called "Performance/Tuning/Mods" I have hard time to understand this kind comments :) I guess most of people understand it's easier and more cost effective to buy a fast bike than try to build one from old piece of junk. But for some people the catch is building...

Can factory 650 pistons handle boost?

Well, I don't have any experience about 650 pistons, but I guess they might handle moderate boost IF you can keep the mixture correct and avoid detonation. Usually it's detonation that kills parts on boosted engines and stock cast pistons don't handle it well. Forged pistons are a bit more...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

All right, seems that latest OEM style Bosch pumps are turbine type. Makes sense. However, apparently they still make roller cell pumps as well. For example their whole aftermarket pump family seems to be roller cell type. http://www.bosch-motorsport.de/content/language2/html/2832.htm So better...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

I have a spare GPZ pump. Unfortunately I can't give any guarantee about it's condition except it works now :D One safe bet would be a Mallory 4060FI. It takes about 4.5 A at 48 PSI. But today's pricing seem to be quite high around $175. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/maa-4060fi Btw, as far...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

I think you are slightly over complicating this fuel pump / generator issue :) Your stator rating seems to be pretty much the same than on my GS1100 (I have seen numbers between 200-250W for it). On my bike the generator was holding up fine with 5A pump, all standard lights, heated O2 sensor...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

One thing to remember with returnless PWM regulation. You probably will need a turbine type pump to get it working properly. Normal roller cell type pumps don't handle well low flow situations. For example my Walbro pump works quite well down to 50% PWM ratio but below that it starts sound weird...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

Just in case if you are interested there are schematics of my pump controller: http://www.iki.fi/arttuh/MSextra/pump_drw.pdf Though it doesn't have pressure feedback so mechanical pressure regulator is still needed. The idea is to run the pump at approx. 50% power in normal riding conditions and...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

I wouldn't go too low on fuel pressure. The injectors need pressure for proper fuel atomization. I think sensible lower limit would be something like 37 psi. The fast idle mechanism on GSXR600 TBs should work fine with choke lever and cable. I'm using the stock choke lever for that but I can't...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

It's advisable to have a filter between the pump and injectors. It's not a bad idea have some kind coarse pre-filter on intake side of the pump too but probably the screen in the tank is enough for that. The filter before injectors should be "injection grade" i.e. fine filter, less than 10 microns.

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

That Walbro looks like a good choice. 5A for maximum available current for the pump sounds like correct estimation. As far as I know the power output of generator on my GSX is 200-250W so probably it's the same than yours. The Mallory pump I had consumed about 4.5A and it was still fine with...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

It seems your dimensions for the GPZ TBs aren't correct. At least my set had 78-93-78 mm spacing. Yes, outer pairs of the GSX-R TBs will probably fit without modifications. There is a 2mm difference but the boots will probably flex enough to cover that. However, I shaved some material off the...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

Yep, I guess those thermistors will work just fine. If the resistance is in suitable range, about 1-10 kilo-Ohms @ 25?C. Alternatively you can get them from any electronics shop. Something like this. There are two versions of the GPZ TBs. Earlier version doesn't have injectors but the later...

GS1000G mods- big bore and fuel injection

Microsquirt should be a good choice. For coolant temp sensor you basically want to measure the cylinder head temp, preferably from the intake side. I have used a NTC thermistor glued on a ring wire terminal. Then you can bolt that on suitable place. A handy and good enough location is the cam...

    Lock up clutch questions

The weight arms tend to rattle a bit at idle. At least my MRE lock up does that. I'm using mine to just give more pack pressure for street riding so I haven't bothered to try too many different settings. I think I have bolt, nut and two washers on each arm at the moment. Works fine except the...
