A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Seems like engine knock?

I've sold the bike and haven't heard report on how it's doing with the mod. But I think it's worth a try(it surely shut it up the time I ran the mod) if yours sounds anything like the mp3 I made. (link still works-you ca download the mp3 there too.)...

    oil pan difference on GS425L

Not many of the older 400-425s show up here but there are a few. Try "pm" ing the owners. but Looking at the bleary parts diagrams here, (https://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gs425l-.../BLCK0011.html) for crankcase and oil pump, it looks like a bear and if so, I wouldn't go there without severe...

    Hello from Southern England

Nice! and I like that rear rack...if you decide later it's 'ugly" don't throw it away because stylistic whims change and it's Hard to find one with good chrome and that fits without modding... I guess you're already familiar with this site...they show a red one for '79 ,with a slightly stepped...

    oil pan difference on GS425L

It's hard to match paints. I'm not a restorer close counts so find myself at Canadian Tire buying what looks to be matches for something like a fender. TIP! GO OUTSIDE WITH THE CAN .-they'll generally let you. because you can never tell under neons. if you're into more serious stuff, you need...

Suzuki 650 twin with no turn signal blinking .... was perfect

all the stuff about brakelights and whatall is irrelevant to the turn signals but FYI "just" Black wires are "+ " and commonly come out of turn signal stalks where they bolt to bike to connect to other wires that choose left and right....Black/white stripe are always "- Ground " The difference...

    front brake light switch logic

You'll be much happier with the microswitch than those silly slider switches....but yes, with two wires out, a switch is a switch- it's plugnplay. No polarity involved, anyway you like.

    Wiring ground question

Oh c'mon. It's common sense. Running a harness that's double the size alongside a massive conductor is ridiculous. When you find a wiring diagram that isn't like this ,do tell. (and a funky English positive ground doesn't count as an exception.

    Wiring ground question

The general feeling is wrong. Practically speaking, the frame has zero resistance to the currents involved in motorcycles. True-Frame doesn't include swingarm and forks. Running current through greasy ball bearings or trying through rubber bushings is a bad idea. But you can trust the frame and...

Back for more help *eye roll*

O gee what a drag...sooty plugs are usually considered to be overrich air-fuel -that said, it's really pretty common on old bikes diagnosed in a shop while idling a lot...a long run is what these "plug diagnosis" refer to and it's assumed the bike is running ok , so the fix is offered to use a...

    Gs 300l and 550 questions

I think maybe people are on the default "Featured Forums" page and don't see anywhere else to post questions. I think there's a path to get stuck in it somehow but I'm so used to clicking through/around that I can't prove it just now...I don't know why there is a "Featured Forums" if it behaves...

    Stuck Stubborn Jets/Screws ... SUCCESS

Huh! Had to try this yesterday and it definitely helped...it softened the nasty black glue that was holding the main jet solidly in and I was able to start it out with a wood dowel. (the long main just slides into the bore on these cv carbs) Anything that trends away from the BIG Hammer + steel...

    fuel height non running

When your bike is sitting, carbs are not always level. That is, if you have the bike on a center stand, rear wheel off the ground, your carbs may have a definite tilt...versus when you sit and ride on it.. I just follow the manual per float height, ensure the float needles are not leaky(that...

    Want a Non Vacuum petcock

A picture would confirm but on most, that faceplate is easy. small screwdriver, lift over the detente and pop off each side. The knob itself has a spring behind it but IMO is unlikely to fall out due to rubber o-rings that hold it in the barrel of the casting. ..so you can file the restrictive...

    oil pan difference on GS425L

Paintcodes are the last three places of a PAINTED/or Coloured part number. Some of the later Real Suzuki Shop manuals have this info in the first pages and some parts fiches also have it...Sometimes it's even surviving as a sticker on the bike somewhere... you can take that to paint manufacturer...

    '82 GS650G Project Update - 2-Weeks In & Happy!

Nice 650! Exactly like mine-even the chrome turn signals... :) I'd just go with Rich above to replace cable. It's not all that bad...a heat-gun or really-boiling-hot rag to warm and soften the rubber boots can help at various stages. DO undo the big knurled nut that adjusts idle that's...

    Problem with turn signals

It "sounds" like a bad connection. Beyond that try BikeCliff's Website and failing there try a search: There are 87,000 + posts in the electrical section and 8000+ threads, just one of which is 4 or 5 down(...

    Rear Tire Bead Came Loose

What punctured the tube? Better find that! or just the valve failed? No, my 81s have alloy rims and warnings they are not tubeless. I think (until corrected ) that This is true of all the alloy 80-81? "Star" looking rims ...However, the only observable difference from the "Y-ish?"tubeless rims...
