A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

LED woes never end! [1978 GS400]

Oh gee. I think your diode thingy for the dashlight should be ok -it's testable and the wattage isn't much in the circuit that should be used...but those leds- they've got two "Funcations" and are bit too clever bMy experience has informed me they are a risk and I wouldn't get a thing like that...

1980 GS400e Manual Spark Advance / Electronic Ignition

Those are country codes. Canada is E28. In the first pages of the Parts fiche , there's some explanation. Also, your VIN number has info http://www.suzukicycles.org/_misc/identification.shtml eg for my '81 GSX 400E : JS1GK5 1A4B2 100xxx S=Suzuki 1 =Motorcycle G=multiple cylinder K=250-399 cc...

1980 GS400e Manual Spark Advance / Electronic Ignition

too bad there's no yards...you might try a Canada wide search for one. Many are happy to converse via email...I'll have a look next time in Comox at "Jack's" hmm. I take that EZ conversion back..:) you'd need this for EI....Had a look at CMNSL - note the magnets for electronic ignition So I'd go...

LED woes never end! [1978 GS400]

As to the light strip acting up, it might be connected to the turn signal issue....but I would disconnect it entirely and get the signals working FIRST. I've had led turn signals for years with no issue whatsoever even though I know there's no really good reason to replace the incandescents...so...

1980 GS400e Manual Spark Advance / Electronic Ignition

Interesting per the points in your GSX! You'd be the second one here in a matter of months but I've been here 10 years! It doesn't fix your advancer but I bet you could swap to the "EI" (="Ignitor",="TCI" Does NOT equal "CDI") in minutes if you happened to come across one. They are very reliable...

1980 GS400e Manual Spark Advance / Electronic Ignition

Those springs will be the same on many Suzukis ...but you will never find just the springs. Safest is to find all the bikes that use the same part number. There is usually a list of other bikes that use the same part. Even various Hondas and Kawasakis with small to medium engines will have the...

Bogging down gsx250e after a mile always and stops

Yay! That wasn't so bad was it? :).. easier than your trouble with the signal generators? and now you have a new clutch cable and R/R as well!

Back for more help *eye roll*

it's the little passage between main and idle "wells" that is super important...(I think later mikunis got rid of it and the plugs)If you look at the manual's diagrams it's very informative...and with carbs out you can blow throw the idle passages from the airbox side : You have to pull the main...

    GS400B vs GS400C

goto link below and go crazy checking parts number comparisons...I don't have that bike but I'll stick my neck out and say lots of parts will match. https://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-gs400_model13419/

Back for more help *eye roll*

I know the spec sheet posted says this but it's notably a lot more than my gsx400 or any other bike on the sheet....not saying it's wrong but it reminds me per your issue. On my bike, This would make very lean running and my bike wouldn't even idle. Perhaps you have brass floats that are heavy...

best paint options for everything except the tank

I was thinking particularly inside the fins -hard to clean..but I guess nobody would see all the way in..and if you do do the head, it'll probably look better if you file the fin edges flat to the original aluminum after you paint, as a nice highlight....I'm not sure about painting aluminum that...

    Shim Help

I hope you didn't take them all out at the same time!...take 'em out one by one and write their sizes AND the clearance measure for each in a chart with the date... You can then figure what shim is "needed" to make the gap right for each. You may then discover you can move shims from one to...

best paint options for everything except the tank

Why not look in the "rebuilds" and other sections. Several people have painted their engines with spraybombs... me, I'd be leery.-it's always an experiment no matter what the advice or directions.(which need reading before buying).. Spray bombs can be pretty good but are tricky and NUMBER ONE...

    82 gs850g loses spark

You have to "bridge" the orange/white stripe wires...("O/W" on the manual's digram) It's not particularly easy and you need a good connection because a fair amount of current goes through..diagram below is for a 650 but they are the same. Please avoid just cutting them and twisting them...

    GS450 Issue fitting New Coils

No, it's not easy to lock the rear but it's good enough to hold the bike on a hill etc. Of course it's worth going over all of it, even to painting the bits that rust-that brake-plate strut and the swing-arm itself (plus the insides of the steel fenders!) are places unseen that get beat by the...

    GS450 Issue fitting New Coils

That fairing is what member pete might call 'Unobtainium"- you should look pete up here. Many posts and pix.. he was much into the 450E..https://www.thegsresources.com/_foru...-gs450-refresh I'm not sure how the 450 and Gsx400 compare to ride..but I expect yours is as smooth...one of the few...

    GS450 Issue fitting New Coils

Cool! I have a GSX (8valve) 400E (same but no fairing) so I know you're having fun!-I love mine...The narrow 18" tires go round curves with less effort than the -aah- "croozer-style" T's and L's with their differing wheel sizes...the seat can be a pain on inner thighs on longer rides though...a...

    GS450 Issue fitting New Coils

ah, good. It's the manual to have! ...per No*. The "signal generators" are just that-generators! they make a lttle pulse of current when the little magnet on the shaft goes by each one at just the right time...The pulse tells the Black Box "TCI" to "interrupt" the primary coil's circuit so the...
