I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

"Pure gas". How long does it stay good?

I finally received a reply from Z1. They included a short video showing someone pushing the "T" fitting into a VM 28 carb without difficulty. It was pushed straight in, no lubricant I assume. They said they've put a lot of effort into having the correct size O-rings. I replied there's no way...

Thanks to all for sharing the great pic's!

A "thank you" to Robert Barr.

I just sent Z1 Enterprises a message suggesting they should contact Robert here. I'm going to guess their answer will be "thank you for your message but no one else has complained". I told them a member here who rebuilds lots of carbs had warned me about the O-rings not fitting well. It's not...

A "thank you" to Robert Barr.

Just want to say thanks for taking the time to provide us with o-rings for our carbs. You provide a great service and it's members like you that make this site great!:) I recently serviced my carbs and the dreaded fuel "T" fitting leaked. Mine was the rubberized version so I couldn't use your...

"Pure gas". How long does it stay good?

Chuck, the Z1 fittings came. You're absolutely right about their o-rings. The fittings came with their o-rings already installed. Way too big. I used some silicone spray on the o-rings as I always do with o-rings. Starting with the "T" fitting, I twisted the first side in and could tell it was...

    longer logged in time needed

I just sent this as a test. I see the yellow auto save pop up in the lower right corner of the reply box, but there is no "restore button" anywhere.

    Three GS questions

    1. Don't wash your bike with high pressure water. It's abuse if you point the sprayer at fork seals, chain, bearings or anywhere there's wiring. There's no way to remove the water and soap that's sitting in every nook and cranny. I go a step further and have only used a hose (open end) on my GS...

    longer logged in time needed

I'm no computer guy so I don't know if there's a way around it. I used to type small novels and got timed out a few times and it was really frustrating. One day my son told me to "save" what I've typed before submitting it. That helped a lot. I notice now that a yellow highlighted box shows up...

"Pure gas". How long does it stay good?

So what do you guys think? With pure gas, if I make sure to add fresh gas every 6 weeks, do you think that would stop the carbs from gumming up? From what I've read, it seems like over-kill but I want to be sure. Thanks for any thoughts.

"Pure gas". How long does it stay good?

Sandy, I have a Pingel fuel valve. At the end of each ride I would turn it off a minute or two before parking. I wait until the fuel level in the bowls is too low to allow the bike to keep running and I turn it off. Part of the problem is I don't ride the bike enough, but it's when hot weather...

"Pure gas". How long does it stay good?

The description only says "aluminum". I just remembered my Pingel fuel valve is aluminum. It's 20 years old and was rebuilt last year by Pingel (lever became very stiff) and they told me nothing special was needed or done regarding cleaning before rebuilding it. So I suppose aluminum lasts.

"Pure gas". How long does it stay good?

By the way, I just got the carbs back together, cleaned, new o-rings throughout. The damn fuel T failed the leak test. Oh well, it was the original T. Didn't leak 20 years ago when I took everything apart but just bumping it a few times while cleaning things this time disturbed it too much...

"Pure gas". How long does it stay good?

I appreciate the replies. I used Stabil anywhere from the normal dosage to twice the dosage and the carbs still gummed up. I haven't tried the Marine grade Stabil. I don't doubt Ed's advice but I wonder if the hot garage is too much for a fuel stabilizer to work as you want it to. If I make...

    vm26 mystery spring

Looks like the spring for the throttle pulley stop screw. Only a few loops and the loops looks like they've been pulled apart somewhat. No other spring on those carbs look like that. Steve is right in thinking a previous owner lost the spring and it somehow got stuck somewhere. That screw...

1979 GS750L project - PO had the carb vents blocked on #3 and #4 - for some reason

The two float bowl vent ports at carbs #2 and #4 should be open to allow the bowls proper venting. Fuel wouldn't flow well with them blocked. If you have a stock intake, the ports should have lines attached and run under the seat. I'm not sure of the exact length on your 750 but the lines...

"Pure gas". How long does it stay good?

After taking my carbs apart for cleaning twice in the last 2 years I've decided to run only pure gas. I'm lucky there's a station close by that sells 91 octane pure gas. I still won't be riding the GS more than 100 miles a month (?) and it will still be in a very hot (100 degrees) garage during...

What fuel octane are you running?

I appreciate the replies.:) I have had zero luck in using Sta-bil, even at twice the amount recommended. I tried it for several months. My bike is generally warmed up for 7-10 minutes every 8-10 days or ridden about 10-15 miles in that same time frame. I think the other problem is my garage gets...

What fuel octane are you running?

I have a '79 GS1000E with a Wiseco 1085 kit, V&H pipe and K&N pods. In California I always ran 91 octane since the bike was new and to be honest, I never knew if it was necessary. All my friends said to run 91 or "you'll get pinging". I still run 91 here in Utah. I've never tried any octane...

Do you recommend the Morgan Carbtune Pro?

I never sucked up any mercury but I played around once just to see how easy it could happen. Didn't dare blip the throttle but opened and closed it a couple of times a little slower than a "blip". It's how quickly the throttle is closed that gets you. I had the mercury get a few inches from the...
