A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Rear Wheel "catches" every 3rd turn...

++1 I converted my T two years ago and was amazed how much smoother it was than my E with the 630 . I went with an X-ring chain, 18T front/50T rear sprockets and don't forget the 6mm thick spacer washer you'll need for the front. I got everything I needed from Z1 and just ordered the...

    Cross wind power loss.

And I've experienced the effect even with an airbox. To wit... On my stock 1981 GS750E, while riding at cruising speed on a four lane raised highway I experienced the sensation of low fuel when it surely wasn't. I discovered that whenever I moved my right foot forward on the peg (I normally...

    Crank seal AARGH!

Subscribed... I have the same issue with my 81 750E...oil on boot :( I researched this a while back and don't recall that the case needs to be split. IIRC the seal is removed and replaced just like a shift shaft seal, etc.... Mine doesn't leak enough to worry with yet...probably have more...

    1980 GS750E progressvie fork springs

The 227mm (8.94") is the same as speced for the '81 (per my notes). I used 15W fork oil and balanced the level in the forks to 8.8" down from the top and have run that way for about 5000 mi. Remember: more oil = higher level = lower number = stiffer suspension...and the opposite is true. For...

    1980 GS750E progressvie fork springs

Progressive Fork Springs Progressive Fork Springs I've been running Progressive springs since 2009 in my 1981 GS750E. A quick look at the Progressive site shows me the same part number for the '80 and '81 models. If you just look at the gallery pics you'll see that the forks are different...

    Accidentally left on PRIME

Put bike on the center stand, jerk the spark plugs out, put the gearbox in 5th, rotate the rear wheel (in forward direction, see arrow on tire)....observe gasoline blowing out of spark plug holes. Change oil.... The above describes MY experience :p

Looks like its coming right along...keep it up. I like the chrome headlight bucket too...but I'm not a purist. I think you should put together what YOU like and is safe to ride.

    Fully Faired GS

This answers your requirements...sort of. It is period correct Rabid Transit by Don Vesco. It was originally mounted on a 1980 GS1100E, it's not a vetter but uses a Vetter mount. I mounted it on my '82 T-model last winter and then removed it this sunner thinking I would do a matched paint job...

    1982 GS750TZ - Restoration Project

I run IRC Durotours on mine. 120/90-17 on the back, 100/90-19 on the front. I like 'em...dry pavement, wet pavement, gravel, or mud they don't seem to care :D Check your wheels for "Tubeless Tire Applicable" embossed on the rim. 1981 gs750 ex tscc drive sprocket question

The inner and outer plates are cushions (sort of) and will be of no use with the typical replacement sprocket. Generally the countershaft sprocket supplied by Z1 will require a 6mm spacer than goes on the OUTSIDE so that the countershaft nut will fully tighten.

how to remove krauser side bags?

Turn the key on the rear latch, push the latch in and swing the rear out. If they're locked, they are all keyed the same so perhaps someone locally can get 'em unlocked for you. I'm pretty sure the BMW bags are keyed the same too in case you have a buddy with a vintage beemer.

    81' gs 750 gauges

    530 Conversion spacers from Z1

I installed an 18T front and 50T rear for my '82 750T. Got them from Z1 in 2009 along with an RK 530 X-ring chain. The only spacer I recall, and the only one shown on the invoice is the 6mm for the front.
