A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Helmet Visor fog and rain

I use the same method before leaving the house, except I usually dry it with a paper towel. I use the vertical strokes, like Steve recommends. Just about any soap will do, as long as it doesn't contain any abrasive like pumice. At gas stations, I frequently use the cleaner/squeegee thing they...

    Helmet Visor fog and rain

My bottle of Rain-X says to apply to exterior glass. The rest of the label is too beat up to read, since it's been in the left pannier for about 10 years. My HJC doesn't have any special coatings that I know of. If it was tinted or photochromic I think I'd be more nervous about the solvents in...

    Helmet Visor fog and rain

I carry a little bottle of Rain-x to add to the visor if I think I'm going to get wet.i don't know how long it lasts, but it last longer in storage than a tater. I also use the Pinlock insert, and like Scott, it's the glasses fogging that really gives me fits. I wonder if I could find a way to...

So that's what happened to that bike. I'm glad it's found a good home.

Holiday? Google Google. Huh. Columbus day. I've never had that one off.

Side cover post replacement - whats the latest?

I've printed a lot of ABS, and I'd be worried about the strength of it in that application. The printed ABS won't be as strong as the original cast part. Maybe you could run an M4 screw through it to strengthen it. A PC-ABS blend might be strong enough. The aluminum angle sounds strongest to me...

    New River Gorge Bridge

Believe me, I'd love to. If I had more notice, I'd have seriously considered putting in for the time off. I think that was the first time I met you. You were riding some kind of Beemer, right?

That was blacktopped when I was last there. Anyhow I'm jealous of anyone going for a ride in WV.

Motion Pro universal oil filler cap

That's what I was looking for, but I didn't want to be driving all over town hunting one down it I didn't have to. The clutch slings out a lot more than a leaky half-moon. It's significant and messy. It's noisy too.

Motion Pro universal oil filler cap

    "Movement Pro", maybe.

Motion Pro universal oil filler cap

I'm thinking about adding that feature to the permanent replacement. This is not the first time I've left it off.

Motion Pro universal oil filler cap

When I got to the hotel in Farmington this week, Larry almost immediately pointed out that my oil fill cap was missing. I had topped off the oil, but got distracted and forgot to replace the filler cap before loading the bike up and leaving for MO. As a long shot, I asked at the Suzuki dealer...

    Waterproofing 3-, 6-, 9-pin, connectors.

My only concern with tape is if you don't get a good seal, then the tape may end up retaining more moisture than the connector otherwise would have. I used only dielectric grease.

Suzuki RG500 POV of Classic TT lap, Sept, 2019

It'll never happen, but if I'm ever given the chance to run that course at speed, I'll need one of you to restrain me. There was an RGV250 at the Motoworks Gingerman event this year. I got to follow it for a couple laps. It was cool to watch and listen to, but two laps was all it took to get...

Opinions on where to purchase mesh armored jacket?

I'll second those recommendations. Also, the armor can be replaced. You might want to upgrade what ships in the new jacket, too. Affordable gear may have serviceable construction, but they skimp on the armor, IMO. I don't see a reason to not be wearing CE level 2. That reminds me, I still...

I only know of her from her time subbing on Mythbusters. She seemed really cool, and a legit gearhead.

BSB cool, but Cadwell Park? WOW!!!

That is a very cool track. I tried to watch a season or two of BSB, but whatever channel I found it on didn't really keep up with the season. Quite often they'd show races from previous years or something. So anyway. Yeah. I love watching them catch air over the mountain. Quite often, not even...

    Handlebar flip

Well, the only thing you have to lose is the time invested in trying it. You might need to figure out some funky cable routing, but try it out before you spend money on new cables. My guess is, they will be too low and hit the tank like Steve said. I find Daytona bars angle back too far...

    GS Cargo Carriers

I'm pretty sure Wazz is the biggest thing I've ever carried on the bike. Other than passengers, I carried a rather awkward-looking cat scratching pole home on the 850. That thing turned a few heads going down the road.
