A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I think you're right. I try to pass on good information but my join date and "Forum Newbie" apparently means I'm a dimwit and can't possibly know something you don't know. The ignorance is to such a degree that you still have not read the entirety of my posts. Why should you, knowledge is...

It'd be more helpful if when people tried to give accurate information, they had correct information to begin with. I'm not even going to touch that charging bit. I can already see, based on this thread, how it would wind out. I'm just going to say one thing, Alternators have stators. If you...

That is NOT my diagram but one posted earlier of a supposed kawasaki CDI. The earlier post postured that the schematic for a Kawasaki H1 CDI was not a real CDI because of the presence of an ignition coil. You're right, I'm aware of no 80's era GS that implements a CDI. I've also made no such...

You answered it with your own diagram..."Although there are many variations" - like I said you're focusing too specifically. Is a GS not a motorcycle because it doesn't have a V-Twin single pin crank like a Harley-Davidson? It has two wheels, the usual controls, and everything else like a...

You're focusing on a very specific design and not the operational principle of CDI itself. CDI can be implemented a number of ways. Regardless of how it's implemented a CDI always has the commonality that a capacitor is used to store a higher than conventional amount of energy and deliver it to...

It's quite sad that people are arguing that because their Suzuki doesn't have CDI, then the Kawasaki guys can't either. Jealous much? You can continue to think I'm wrong that's alright. I know you don't know how CDI actually works so I don't mind if your lack of understanding challenges my...

I'm sorry but that is completely incorrect information. Also if you are citing a wiring diagram labeled Early H1 CDI as also being wrong then there is a serious clash of data/information vs knowledge.

    A moment for clarification please

Are you running factory intake and exhaust? If so I'd recommend setting the carbs to all factory settings (jet/needle sizes and all) and tune from there.

    A moment for clarification please

If you hang around the ICE (internal combustion engine) scene long enough you learn there are no absolutes with terminology. Things are referenced differently in different locals and context. One such difference nearly everyone is familiar with is trunk and boot. They refer to the same thing but...

You have documentation that supports this? Not everything is in reference to position of the bike, if it was good luck with finding the front of a battery without it being in the bike.

    Separated fuel level sending unit

It's an alternative but I wouldn't call it good. A couple of tacks with a welder are far better than smearing on some goop but if it's what you have then JB Weld is at least resistant to gasoline. Worth a try, and if it doesn't hold up no real harm done.

    A moment for clarification please

I'm sorry...the carbs are installed facing backwards so the front faces the rear and vice versa. Hope that unconfuses everything.

    A moment for clarification please

Yes, the front of the carb is the intake side.

a quick question on a dead ( not discharged ) battery

Surface charge is meaningless - it bleeds off/vanishes after some time. More important is the battery voltage when you install it in the bike and start powering things up. Assuming you charged this battery till it was full, you have a bad battery - it no longer holds a charge, replace it.
