A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Also. Didn't someone once mention that they flipped the half moons around as a possible fix?

    Synchronized knocking sound from engine

Holy crow!!! Finally! That's the exact same sound mine makes sometimes. Like every couple seconds. Other times, you never hear it at all. As long as the consensus is cam walk, I'll be able to sleep at night :)

    Tail light bulb

1982 GS11GL. Just checking on the correct bulb. I put an 1157 in there beginning of the year and I think the running light is out again. All the manual says is 8/23W (3/32 cp) Maybe I need a different bulb. All the other marker lights are fine. Thanks!

    Spitting gas out of #3

Ok. Need the advice of the resident sages. Nephew has an 82 750T. Started running poorly the other day. Saw some gas coming out of the vent tube on the air box. Thought it might be spark. We did the coil test and found a high resistance on the secondaries of that set. Cut back the wires a bit...

    Z1 Enterprises

You want screaming fast delivery? I live about 10 miles down the road. Couple Friday's ago, I ran up there, Rob fixed me up with a Rick's stator, R/R and a gasket. I was back home, installed and running less than three hours later! Love the place.

    Time Machine

So I ran my bike down to Filer's Motorsports today to get an inspection. They basically take drive in's. Hit the service counter and this older guy, maybe in his 60's, came out and drove it in the shop. I roamed around the sales area for maybe 15 minutes or so. I saw him bring it back around...

    So... My charging issue

Ok guys. Just an update. Ran out to Z1 this morning. Got a Rick's stator and R/R. Rob and Chris are cool. Two hours start to finish. I think it was the original stator as it had the color coded wires. And.... it looked like little bits of charcoal. Fired it up and I got good voltage at the...

    So... My charging issue

I'm thinking that I might just change out the R/R also. One question.... You guys use anything on the gasket?

    So... My charging issue

So Toasty. Stator right? I'm just going to run over to Z1. Like the guys. There's is around 130.00 and I don't have any problem with that.

    So... My charging issue

Ok. My findings. Between each of the three legs, I get about 1.0 ohms. Good so far. Then from the legs to chassis ground I get a couple ohms. Not good. Fire it up and at 4k, I get around 62vac between A-B, A-C, but between B-C I only get about 45 vac. Time to run to Z1 for the stator?

    Exhaust cover use?

I think they're mostly decorative. Hides the weld underneath. Mine were missing when I bought the bike but i found a set on eBay and just bought the hardware to reinstall them.

    So... My charging issue

But, just in case, I called my buddy Mike at Z1. He's got a stator and gasket sitting on the shelf. And he's only 20 minutes from here. Could be a nice project for Saturday.

    So... My charging issue

All right Cliff. I'll definitely start at the stator and work my way up. I'll keep you guys posted. Just hope it turns out to be the R/R. Much easier to change out......

    So... My charging issue

Yes, yes. Got to go over the Stator papers and I printed them out. Coming home yesterday after a long ride, I stopped for gas about a mile from home. Went to start it and just about nothing. Getting too old to push a bike and pop start it at my age. Anyway, had about 11.8 volts when I checked...

    Center stand spring

Not completely brilliant but... The spring for my center stand was getting a little weak and it would bounce a bit over the railroad tracks. Stopped at the hardware store but didn't see one that was quite right. Then it hit me. I bought a smaller diameter spring that fit inside the original...
