A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Valve Adjustment fun

Update. Went back out to Z1 to get the shims I needed. Rob was great. Swapped the new ones for the ones I bought in error. No charge. Got back and installed them (checked clearances twice) and buttoned things up. Everything is back together but I'll run it tomorrow. Waiting on the Permatex on...

    Valve Adjustment fun

So, I got the week off and decided it was time to do these before Steve threatened me for his test shim back :) Anyway, got it all apart, and was fortunate to have the gasket come off in one piece. Cleaned it all up and quit for the day. This morning I go and check all the clearances and they're...

    Valve cover gasket installation

So, I think I'm going to try and do my valves next week while on vacation. Z1 is only 20 minutes from my house. But a question. When I reinstall the new half moons, I see that most agree to use a little sealer on them. For the gasket, I just have the stock replacement one. I saw someone mention...

    '83 GS550L speedometer replacement

I bought an entire cluster from an 83 1100L for my 821100L. Only swapped out the speedo. Very easy. Just had to reconnect the wires for the light and side stand switch stuff in the headlight bucket. Took maybe 20 minutes.

    sissy bar info

Best place is probably eBay. I found two over the years that I bought. First one I didn't quite like and resold it, the second was a nice Aschco that I have on the bike now.

United Motors (yeah one of these)

Too funny. But I like the barter system. I think he's going to be making me a couple of new bunks for my little boat trailer :)

United Motors (yeah one of these)

Well that was an easy fix. Drop it in gear and it stalls, but the clutch isn't hung up. Bike rolls free. So, it has to be electrical. Check the side stand switch and it's wide open. One paper clip later and I'm riding it up and down the driveway!

Oh, it's one of those cheap Korean or Chinese made bikes. Went out of business back in 2009. Told him not to buy it at the time. I had a line on a nice GS500F for the same price and it was only a couple years old and mint. But, did he listen...... Noooo.

United Motors (yeah one of these)

So, my buddy's son has one of these things. A little 250 sport bike. Anyway, he's had it setting for a couple years in his garage. Wanted to get it started to unload it. New battery and it fires right up. But pull the clutch in and drop it in gear and it stalls. Seems the clutch is locked up. I...

    Carb sync question

Let's see if I can ask this without confusing even myself :) The Suzuki shop manual states to sync at 1750 and have 2 and 3 a half ball lower (which has been assumed to be 1cm of mercury. Clymer states the same 1cm at speeds of 1500-2000, so that's about the same. BassCliff's tutorial shows...
