A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Solid State Power Box

Good points. I think leaving the headlamp on it's own separately-switched circuit is the best route to go. That would also allow me to play with things like HIDs or LED T/S and marker lights on their own circuits. I wouldn't want to have you customize anything, as I want to be able to give...

    Solid State Power Box

I'm glad to see that my thinking was in line with yours. I don't believe the '79 came with a HL On/Off switch, so I was thinking that when I build the new harness I could tie all of the lights (except t/s) into a single manual switch on that circuit, using it in place of the 'Start' switch...

    Charmayne's rebuild of her 550L

I have to say, Cowboy, that I'm somewhat jealous. I've got a 'spare' 550 sitting in the shop, starting to think it may end up in my 16 y/o's hands very soon.

    Solid State Power Box

So, it occurred to me this morning that on the bike I plan to use this on, I will be deleting the electric starter and related circuit altogether (kick-start only). Looking over the diagram, it does not appear that this will be an issue, but I WILL be left with this brilliantly-designed, yet...

    Solid State Power Box

Current project is a '79 550, but everything is being moved / customized. 'Symmetrical' would probably work best.

Reluctant Project - Cooley Barn Find

Chuck, between the Cooley, my 550, and some of the other crap we've got laying around the shop, we should name it "Resurrection".

    80 GS750E tank swap

As far as I know, the '78 and '79 tanks are the only direct swaps, with the single-bolt, vertical rear mount. I know that most (if not all) of the 1000/1100's from 80+ had the double-bolt, flat rear mount. The tank in the ebay listing you posted appears to be from a '79, and should be a...

    1980 GS1000S Reluctant Rebuild

I'm sure Chuck would be more than happy to help you out. You should shoot him a PM with what you need. Also, where did you get your Vapor Blasting done? I haven't been able to find many places that do it, and I'm interested in your experience with them and what they charged.

I'm not sure, but I think mine does have a detent at the 'PO' setting. I'm going on break here in a few, and when I do I'll check it again.

Kz 650b1..austin moto fest auction bike

Chuck, my KZ750 also has a "PO" position. I've read somewhere that it's "Parking Only", but I can't quote the source off the top of my head. It may have been the manual...I'll check when I get home this morning. On my bike, it lights all of the rear-facing lights (and maybe front turn sigs)...
