DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Which year did shim adjustments quit

I've owned and adjusted both styles. The 16 valve screw adjustment is easier, and it's not close. But only once or twice ever needs done on the bucket & shim style. I set those on the loose side so the adjustment lasts longer between intervals.

need help --- what model is this part correct for ?

The 81 had the choke in the steering head stem. At least mine did.

    Chuck Hahn

So, Chuck went the extra mile (or 10) and got this job done. We are super happy with the work he did, and how well it runs. The engine is so smooth & quiet that all you really hear, other than the exhaust note, is the slight whirring of the cam chain. Wonderful. The only downside to this whole...

Anyone familiar with this (cheap) aftermarket speedo? Need help replacing backlight

I bought some LEDs from the auto parts store for turn signal indicators on a custom project, and the would only work electrically wired in one direction. I understand that all LEDs are not this way, but I would cross the wires to see.

Stator has given up the ghost

I ran my 850 for about 4 years without seeing a reading above 13.4 or so. The stator was failing, but took it's time. If you are still charging near 13 volts why would you have a battery problem, when fully charged isn't a 13 volt deal?

what did you wrench on today??

I, being a total rookie when it comes to VVT stuff, inadvertently ruined the Atlas inline 6 in my 07 Trailblazer over a year ago. I overlooked a 20 dollar problem and starved the crank for oil. It would not have happened if I had done a little research. It's a long story, and the bottom line is...

    Suzuki GS 700ES purchase price?

"Howdy neighbor .... well that bike is already sold ... so must have been a good one. Darn. I was hoping to see it tomorrow. For now, I will have to settle for riding my Suzuki GR650 Tempter ... who no one has ever heard of. Works for me." Knock it off. I always liked those...

Ignition System problems - no spark on plugs

If you have power to the small wire on the solenoid. and the bike will start if you cross the large poles, then that solenoid is no good.

Get the Dyna S and get it over with.

    Spooky !

International built a tractor back in the day, model was 666. I never could figure how they ever sold one. I also remember that after he left office, a bunch of Ronald Reagan's friends got together and bought him a house in an exclusive neighborhood, and they petitioned the powers that be to...

    Chuck Hahn

Not to be pushy or anything, but Chuck should post a few pics of his progress so people can see exactly why we wanted him to do this project. It is looking super cool.

Crazy thinking about my 1983 GS850GL

I have a GPS speedo on my old Moto Guzzi and love it.

    Cylinder Head Won't Budge

I had a recently severely stuck set of pistons. Old timers told me to squirt some Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders and go away for a few days. After a week it turned over like it was never stuck to begin with.

    Ngk plug shortahe

I can't remember the last time I bought NGKs. There are lots of alternatives that I haven't had any problems with.

Will an exhaust alone enhance performance?

I put a 4 into 1 on my GS1100 and the real difference was a 24 lb weight reduction. Beyond that it pulled redline easier with the factory pipes.

    Airplane fuel

We had a gas back in the 90's around here called "Turbo Blue", and it was listed at 104 octane. A bit pricey. My GS1100 EZ would ping a bit in hot weather so I would put a gallon of it in & top off with regular. It stopped the pinging cold. Stations carried the stuff for the stock car racers who...

    Stupid question...

" According to Cycle World, some surging at cruising speed was normal for my 11E in '82." Then Cycle World is full of sh*t.

what did you wrench on today??

"And of course after install with one last head bolt to go...can you see the "u-joint" that connects the engine guard?" Yup. I also see a missing exhaust bolt.....
