A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Best get a throttle cable while you're at it too, (but not too bad if you have a push/pull type) the best place to store them is taped alongside the one in use, so in the event of failure you just disconnect and reconnect the ends, 2 minute job. (I used to tape up the handle bar end to stop...

Bike too old? Stripping gearbox without stripping engine - GS1000?

You have to take the clutch cover and clutch all off any way, I would check all there, springs ect before pulling the engine to bits, I know there is a lot said about bent and damaged selector forks, but I have never seen any myself.

When you say stuck in gear, do you mean the gear lever doesn't move or it does but doesn't select a gear/change a gear?

Just to say that the suspension should've been up on their hardest with the bike loaded up like it is. You will be going along the Costa Del Sol and the main road that runs along the bottom is dubbed the most dangerous in Spain, its ok just be aware. The best places to stop are a couple'v miles...

Good, place is still a dump. Lots of old bars about. Even being 2-4 streets over from a dodgy spot being foreign, alone and far from home is way too close and an unnecessary risk when you have everything to lose.

The roads tend to bumpier the further south you go in Italy and you will notice the difference as soon as you cross the border after Menton but it's fine. If it's ok for those scantily clad girls that zap past you on their twist and goes (And they will) I'm sure it'll be ok for you. You know...

How to remove dents from your tank..

Sometimes you can pull that back by wrapping the tank in a towel (to stop marking the paint) and pulling it back with a ratchet strap or two. (Take care to not redent with the strap) Better still is to strap it before trying the compressed air.

Is it like this? If so, screw your cable adjuster on the handle bar in, slacken the lock nut, I think 10 or 12mm spanner take it back a couple of turns, then back the slotted screw till it feels floppy, then screw in till you feel it start to resist then back off a quarter turn and lock it...
