A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Yes, it?s converted. I guess it is the only non original part. i will check if it is electronically advanced or still has the mechanical advancer behind the plate.

    Canada restrictive exhaust.

Thank you all for helping out ! I will check the ignition system as this is my last possible cause of trouble. (and for me the hardest cause i don?t know much about electronic ignitions) It is good to know i don?t have to disseamble my exhausts ! Again thanks for all the help, keep them on the...

    Canada restrictive exhaust.

i am comparing it with my old Suzuki GS1000E same year 1978. And I have owned a lot of old Japanese bikes; so I am sure it lacks power. I already thoroughly cleaned the carbs (unfortunatly i forget to write down the needle specs) But this is a unmolested bike with low mileage and even the...

    Canada restrictive exhaust.

It?s the same here, petrol tanks and exhaust systems... But i want the original 4 in 2 exhaust and it should not block the gasses. I?ll try to respect the system and force the mufflers out without damaging the exhaust.

    Canada restrictive exhaust.

i will try to get the mufflers out and grind the ?endcap? off Hopefully they are only welded at the end of the exhaust otherwise it might be difficult.

    Canada restrictive exhaust.

@Big T, I have read it on suzukicycles.org and on motorcycle specs. Anything is possible with a 40 year old bike. Maybe it went from USA to Canada before it came to England and then to Holland. So it might be that it has California regulation restrictions. It is imposible for me to find out.

    Canada restrictive exhaust.

Could someone with a Gs 1000 E (1978-1979) please take a look at the muffler inside the exhaust and check if the muffler is closed at the end as in the picture ?

    Canada restrictive exhaust.

Okay, thanks for the input; i am going to check the bike ones more. So the picture of the exhaust muffler is also normal with one end of the muffler closed ?

    Canada restrictive exhaust.

I have read somewhere online that Canadian bikes were restricted in the seventies to meet tighter emission regulations. This could be ?squezing? the exhaust gasses flow by rings or other means and/or changing the carburation; different needle/needle jet etc. So I would like to hear from anyone...

    Canada restrictive exhaust.

Hello fellow GS?s, I have found a ?new? GS 1000 E but it lacks power. It is imorted from Bitish Colombia ad has the VM26SS carbs. Looking into the exhaust it seems unlike my previous GS 1000 E muffler; wich was also a 1978 model. It is the original exhaust system so i?m a bit ?baffled? Has...

    Clutch back plate HD ???

No I haven't, Nessism pointed it out but I couldn't find it. Thanks for the link. It is a pity Suzuki doesn't sell the parts for the clutch. Should I check the backlash between driving gear and clutch gear ?

    Clutch back plate HD ???

It's a good laugh; HD is heavy duty not Harley Davidson... The bike is a GS1000E from 1978 The bearings and the basket are useable but the springs have become to short. Because i've separated the clutch i thought i might as well replace the back plate. But the basket and the gear take most of...
