A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    gs1000e clutch back plate springs

Did i see someone mentioning HD springs ? Or just HD backing plate? Seems to me it is a lot of money for the revision kit containing only 3 springs and a few rivets.

    750/1000 engine swap

It is a tight fit. The brackets at the bottom in the middle don't line up. (I had some long nuts welded in the frame) The front brackets need to be made as well as the rear at the top. Basically you can only use the rear supports at the bottom, they line up with the casing and give you a...

Hello Mr. Bill, You have got rid of the air support. How do you plug the holes ? Do you weld them ?

GS750E roller bearing headstock GSX1100E fork swap ?

Ah, thanks for the input, just what I wanted to hear ! Do you tap the holes from the air pressure link and put small bolts in ? About the bearings, I found out they are exactly the same as my Yamaha XJ 650 Seca... (Still have a headstock in my crawl space...) keep on rolling

GS750E roller bearing headstock GSX1100E fork swap ?

about the ball bearing. yes the complete race is higher but only the inner ring is enclosed in the frame tube. There is very little height so a conical inner ring would be sticking out of the headstock. I have the 2 frames next to each other to compare and the headstocks are different ! The...

GS750E roller bearing headstock GSX1100E fork swap ?

Yes, you are right again. Don't now why I'm having trouble reading the verniers these days... But the problem is in the height. The 5.5 mm height for the ball bearing is not enough for the outer race of the conical bearing. So I went to the Dutch specialist today and he gave me a...

GS750E roller bearing headstock GSX1100E fork swap ?

Thanks for the replies ! I live in Holland so I will try to find for a local supplier. The width of the 750 headstock is 43.1 mm upper and lower. The height of the bearing race 5.5 mm So this might be a problem. You're right Hillsy; I measured it wrong (above the race)

GS750E roller bearing headstock GSX1100E fork swap ?

I just got me a nice GSX1100E fork with air pressure support. When I removed my old T-part from my GS750E 1977 8V i found to my surprise a roller bearing with loose balls. Just like a classic bicycle  Not what I like to see on my retro racer... Anyone with any experience swapping it for...

    750/1000 sprocket alignment

That is good advise. I have corrected the wheel alignment and measured the difference between the sprockets with a metal ruler. The engine sprocket is 3 mm. (0-1/8 inch) to the right compared to the rear wheel sprocket. It does not seem much so maybe I can shim the sprocket. The nut has worked...

    750/1000 sprocket alignment

Thanks, the electrics are easy this way. My chain sprocket is 3/8 inch off center to the right from the chain guard. I don't know how it's possible but I might buy an offset sprocket. Also the thread from the outgoing axle is a bit damaged and the nut looks bad. I probably try to clean up the...

That's good news; can you tell me how you connect the generator ?

    750/1000 sprocket alignment

I have started a 750/1000 8V swap, it isn't straightforward. I have made the brackets for the front, top rear and center bottom. For the center bottom I also made some new mounts in the frame and let them weld at the neighbor/workshop. I have kept the rear bottom mounts as a reference point. But...
