A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    Lock up clutch questions

I would just tighten the weight bolts. Since they have lock nuts they shouldn't vibrate open. But it's probably a good idea to check the pivot arm bolts and locktite them if they aren't already. And don't worry about all that rattle when you start the engine, it's just normal ;)

    Recommendations, boring, ballancing

For example here are a couple of photos what I did for my 1150 engine to drop compression: Just food for thought. I guess that you can't gain much volume by opening the combustion chambers without re-shaping them completely. Though you have quite much material to remove on the sides due to...

    Recommendations, boring, ballancing

Well, over 2mm is way too large piston to head clearance, IMO. It will ruin the squish band and hurt performance. I would aim to 1.0-1.5mm range. On the other hand over 12:1 is quite high compression ratio for an air cooled street engine. It may work or it may cause detonation. I don't have...

The thread is 14x1.25 mm, the same than on the spark plugs.

    Turbo bobber build thread.

I have heard some rumours about boost pressurised tanks from very early times of turbo bikes. But I have no idea how successful these experiments were. A wideband is a good investment, helps to avoid molten pistons and other similar incidents :)

    GS(X)1100E turbo EFI

Thanks for all kind compliments! Steve, there is an onboard video from race track a couple of pages backwards. Well, the luggage rack doesn't exactly make the bike more beautiful. But this is my daily ride during riding seasons and I need to carry some stuff with me every now and then. So...

You will need a proper fuel pump with boost referenced fuel regulator. In theory pressurized tank may work but I wouldn't bother even trying it since the fuel pump solution is tested widely and proven to work. You will also need dynamic boost pressure (pitot tube) for float bowls. Pressure in...

Then it was time to get the bike back on the road. It seems that this moderate 4" increase in the wheelbase was a good choice. There is still enough traction to lift the front wheel but wheelies are now much easier to control. And in addition now it's quite easy to spin the rear tire if I like...

    GS(X)1100E turbo EFI

The fuel system needed upgrade too since the old pump was probably on its limits. The first bit was take-off from tank since I wanted less restricted supply for the pump. I made an adapter plate for dry-break quick couplings that allow 10mm hose for the supply and 8mm for return. Genuine hand...

Oops, it seems that I have forgot to update this... One of nice findings with new swinger was that rear brake master cylinder must be relocated. Originally the cylinder is inside of the frame and push rod from the pedal goes between the frame tube and swinger and since new swinger is wider at...

Oh, I forgot to comment this. I wouldn't bother with intercooler if you are going to use just 6-7 psi boost. Compared to added complexity benefits would be minimal. When going above 15 psi it's different story. And even then water injection might be more feasible solution.

You can't route oil return from turbo to oil filter. The return path must go to the sump without any restriction and the line must be continuously downhill. And naturally centre of the turbo must be above oil level. There is full oil pressure on the filter so routing return there will result...

New project: EFI and spark using EDIS for my GS1100's

Way to go! I'm interested to see how your experiments with the EDIS go on. I have seen some rumours that EDIS4 has built in rev limiter at 9000 rpm but I haven't got any 100% sure confirmation for this. Fitting a 36-1 wheel inside the signal generator cover might be challenging but probably...

Using megasquirt to control spark only?

In theory MS2 supports stock type trigger (one tooth and two opposite sensors/pickups). But as far as I know that feature isn't properly tested and I vaguely remember seeing some bug reports relating to it. I'm using two hall sensors and 6+1 magnets as triggers. That works fine with all MS...

Using megasquirt to control spark only?

I haven't done spark only by myself but it's completely possible. The biggest problem is to arrange suitable crank trigger set-up. Missing tooth wheels seem to be slightly problematic with bike engines.

    GS(X)1100E turbo EFI

Thanks for comments! Yes, with realistic 10-15% drivetrain loss estimation it is around 300hp at the crank. And it's plentiful in practice. However, during coming summer I'm going to try some small tricks to squeeze out more power with the same boost level. And maybe try higher boost as well...

    GS(X)1100E turbo EFI

The IHI (VF34) works just great. Though if you are sure that you want less than 300hp and want to optimize low end performance you may want to consider something slightly smaller since this one is capable for over 350hp. But low end response with this isn't bad either. It starts producing some...
