    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Aftermarket Stator Spreadsheet

My guess is the wattage output, but the manufacturers are pretty spotty when in it comes to publishing technical data.

I'll look them up and see what I can find out.

    Aftermarket Stator Spreadsheet

So I've got three spare stators on the shelf, one from RM (RM01083), one from Electrosport (ESG014), and one from Electrex (G02). Two of them the larger size, one the smaller. While looking them up to see exactly what they are supposed to fit, I noticed some inconsistencies in what stators are...

    GS 1100 Complete Engine Value?

Someone looking to build a drag bike might give you $1000 for it. Someone looking to put an engine into a rider might only go up to $400. You just gotta find the right buyer, and wait for him to come along.

    1982 GS1100G Brat Build!

The real coward is the guy who has been banned from a forum and is afraid to ask the moderators for forgiveness so he can rejoin. Because of this cowardice, he registers using a different email address and slightly different username name to log in.

    1982 GS1100G Brat Build!

People who ride on public roads with open pipes (cars, pickups, or motorcycles) are a$$holes. Period. Loud pipes do not "save lives", since the noise is not all that noticeable when approaching a car from the rear (which is where it might be of some use). The noise is only noticed once the...

    Sacrilegious headlight replacement?

The 1982 XJ650 Seca used an 8" headlight. Unfortunately, the Yamaha ring won't fit on the Suzuki bucket, and vice versa. The mounting holes are in different places. I have been looking for a Seca headlight for years, because about ten years ago I scored a NOS 8" Seca bucket for $30. Still...

    lb05f ngk caps on 78 gs1000?

I like the VB05F for outboard: And the XFD05F for inboard: I don't think the short 90s you posted the link to would fit very well on the outboard, and not at all inboard.

    lb05f ngk caps on 78 gs1000?

For 8 valve GS motors, I like to have two of the long 45o angled caps for the inner plugs, and two of the shorter 45o angled caps for the outer plugs. Don't know what the numbers on them are, but you get the idea.

    Experience with K&N Air Filters

All filters pass particulate matter. If they didn't they wouldn't pass any air either. The primary question is, "How much particulate and what size?" The secondary question then is, "Will this amount of particulate at this size damage my engine?" It is true that a paper element can be made...

A resurrection more than a restoration or rebuild; the final form of Miss Bugly

I like her. I have a fellow right up her alley. His name is "Muttley" and he is a 1982 GS1100EZ frame with an '83 1100ED engine. He also has gauges, wheels, stock exhaust, and front forks off an '83. Body work was painted to match (as closely as possible) the '82 fancy candy maroon, and the...

Loser trolls who've been banned need a new maxi-pad.

    1982 GS1100G Brat Build!

The bike looks ridiculous. Excessively loud, open pipes are for adult-aged children who have so little self confidence that they have to draw attention to themselves to feel some sense of accomplishment. Or, to put it more succinctly, pu$$ies.

'82 Honda CB900c Burnt Valve.... Info?

Another good information source for the 16 valve Honda engines of that era is www.cb1100f.net . Although dedicated to the chain drive bikes, most of the engine info is applicable to both the chain and shaft driven bikes. You can download the Honda shop manual for your bike there as well...

Traveling to Marion/Ft Wayne for work - good roads?

There are only a couple of good roads I've found north of Indianapolis, and I travel the state pretty heavily for work. The northern 40% of the state is pretty darned flat, with a few limited areas being the exceptions. If you go exploring in the "Lake Region" (a rough triangle connecting...

    '85 GS550 Bobber Rescue

I'm going to try to be helpful here. If I come across as a bit short, it's only because there are probably fifty things that need to be done to this bike, and I'm not going to type a four page long dissertation on resurrecting a horribly abused GS back from the dead. I've resurrected/restored...

    GSXR1000 vs GS1100 Video from 2013

Your 11.5 runs are right in there with the magazine tests back in the day. They generally ran the '80-'82 1100E models in the 11.1-11.4 second range. The '83 model 1100ES, with the cams timed for more midrange than previous models, broke into the 10.8-11.0 range for a couple testers.

GS650E Replacement tires with vintage look?

I run Shinko 712 tires on my GS650E. 100/90-19 up front and 110-90/18 in back. They hold great, last plenty long on such a light bike, and a set can be had for about $110 shipped from: www.motorcycle-superstore.com Both my tires have around 5,000 miles on them. The rear will get changed out...
