A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS550T running lean, what else to check?

Just read through all of this and noticed a couple of points. If there is no difference between 0 turns and 3 turns on the pilot screws, it sounds like there is nothing coming through the pilot passages. Your JET might be clean, but I don't think that PineSol is a proper solution to remove...

Trick to pulling stator from cover?

All good advice so far, but you should also know that once you remove the emblem, it's basically trash. If you cared enough to want to remove it, you likely won't want the wrinkled emblem back on the bike. New emblems are relatively inexpensive. Get one for the other side, too, so they match...

    shim club

If you go to Ray's profile page, you will see that he last signed in to the board a couple of weeks ago. He also has an e-mail address listed, might check that. If worse comes to worse, you can buy the shims you need (except for the "X" shims) at Z1 Enterprises. Shop carefully, make sure they...

Instrument Cluster Making a Whining Sound.

A #1 square-drive bit (also known as a Robertson's bit) works just fine. :encouragement: .

Instrument Cluster Making a Whining Sound.

The problem is likely not in the cable, it's in the part that the cable turns. :-k The part that has the square hole that receives the cable rides in a bushing. THAT is what needs to be lubricated. Not sure, but I think it can be lubed without disassembly. You DO need to remove the speedo...

    Looking for a smaller battery!

What is your incentive for a "smaller battery"? :-k And how much are you willing to pay for it? Keep in mind that your bike is electric start only, so you will need to keep it in top shape so that it will start easily the FIRST time, if you go to a smaller capacity battery. If you are trying...

    85 GS700e Carb/Vacuum/Pilot Screw (?) Q's

We will definitely need a better picture than the one already posted. I have not worked on any smog bikes, so I don't know what differences there were. As chris mentioned, it's likely possible to set it up as a non-smog bike. I am also getting the impression that this bike is new to you? And...

    Big touring bike

'07 is a V-twin, right? Not sure if that would be any easier than the V-4, just not sure when the V-4 Venture ended. .

Need help to ID a set of carbs.

I did a little bit of looking around the images, too and found a reference to "oil-cooled Suzuki 750 and 1100", as well as some Kawasakis. Does anybody feel they need them more than I do? :-k .

    Big touring bike

Have you seen Mr. Bill lately? Next time you see him, have him shift his Spyder into gear. I thought there was something wrong with my wife's Spyder, but have learned that they ALL do that. Probably similar to Rob's Sportster, but I haven't been near one lately for comparison. .

    X-pipe.... what?s the deal??

I used to have a '77 KZ650C. I remember the crossover pipe. It was after 1&2 came together, and went to the other side after 3&4 came together. The 650LTD had the header pipes crossed like you said. Looked more 'tangled' up front, but it put even-firing pulses out each muffler. A couple of...

    81 and 83 1100

I just looked up the part numbers and they are different. Yes, I know there will be a different number for the '83 with its black paint, but I went a step further and looked at the cylinder head cover gasket. There is one part number for '80/'81 and a different part number for '82/'83...

    82 gs650gl header interchangeability

I would not be surprised if the pipes for the 750 and up bikes are a bit taller. Put them on a 650, they will hang lower below the frame. .

I am going to re-take them, along with numbers that correspond with the points noted above. .

Need help to ID a set of carbs.

This is going to be interesting. I'm still working on getting a hosting site up and running, and Photo*ucket isn't playing nicely, so I can't post any pictures here. If anyone is interested after seeing the description, send your e-mail address or phone number and I'll send some pictures...
