A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Raising the rear of the 1100 Katana without changing the shocks

I finally managed to test the bike yesterday as the roads were dry and the temperature at 9?C. It's difficult to compare the bike before and after fitting the shock extenders as almost a month passed between the rides but in any case I'm very glad with the result. The bike is still very stable...

Raising the rear of the 1100 Katana without changing the shocks

Good news, the EMC shocks on my 1100 Katana have now been extended by 1 inch. This was made possible through "a little help from my friends" in this case Norm (@storm64) who did a fantastic job in fabricating the extensions in stainless steel. They came fully polished as you will see on the...

    1100 Katana possible evolutions

You are right, the TNT swingarm is very heavy! I haven't weighed mine yet but will do.

    1981 gs750 (gs750e) Retro Racer project

The 1100 Katana moved from the two holes you have to one larger hole between the 1982 and 1983 model years. You could also simply delete the airbox cover if you need more air...

Oil leak coming from LH crankcase area on 1150 bottom end

I had this issue on an 1100 kat and it turned out that the oil pan had a slight crack probably due to the PO dropping the engine on a hard surface... It cost me two oil changes!

    1100 Katana possible evolutions

That's of course another option. BTW what is the length of your shocks. Mine are the standard 330 mm which puts the upper shock mount at 630 mm above ground and the swingarm spindle at 355 mm above ground. A little too little in my view? What are your specs (no rider on board)?

You might try but beware that this will probably disturb your AFR ratio and you could be spending a lot of time getting it right...

GS1000G Forks upgrade with original wheel please help!

Here's an answer for you: https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?206668-A-modern-fork-upgrade-for-17-18-and-19-quot-wheels/page2 Be aware that keeping the 19" front wheel with modern triples will give you a lot of trail as pointed out by Chuck78. It's not bad in itself but the bike...

DL 1000 Vstrom triple on 1100 Katana

First test today with the Vstrom triples fitted to the 1100 Kat. The modifications include Bandit 1200 fork legs, GSXR 1100 front wheel complete with disks and calipers, Nissin PR19 master cylinder, EMC shocks with GSXR 17*4.5 rear wheel including disk and caliper. The bike is also considerably...

DL 1000 Vstrom triple on 1100 Katana

The fork legs are from the 1st gen Bandit 1200. They are the right length for the 1100 Katana. Sorry for the late answer...

DL 1000 Vstrom triple on 1100 Katana

After much hesitation I finally purchased a handlebar to go with the Vstrom triple. The goal was to get something looking as close as possible to the original clip-ons. In the end I selected the Fehling LD2 Dragbar that's as narrow as the clip-ons at 635 mm...

Raising the rear of the 1100 Katana without changing the shocks

I don't know if you got the proper web page for EMC? It's a French brand and all their shocks use the De Carbon principle not the cheap emulsion principle used elsewhere... Here's their site: https://www.emc-suspensions.fr/en/ There is also a site in the US but my browser warns me against it?

Raising the rear of the 1100 Katana without changing the shocks

The longer shocks are obviously the first choice but I have some expensive aftermarket shocks from EMC that I would hate to loose. EMC is willing to extend them but it's not cheap and I don't really know by how much I want to extend them so far... I've been experimenting lifting the rear on my...

Raising the rear of the 1100 Katana without changing the shocks

I did a quick computation of the trail generated through different triple offsets assuming a rake of 27?and a front wheel of 17" Katana 1100 OEM 51.5 mm: 96 mm GSXR 11K triple 35 mm: 113.7 mm R6 2002 triple 40 mm: 108.1 mm Vstrom DL1000 triple 45 mm: 102.5 mm For comparaison and assuming the...

Raising the rear of the 1100 Katana without changing the shocks

You are right but let's not forget that 1 inch higher or lower front or rear will change the caster by approximately 1? and that can be felt immediately. I recently changed your rear 18" wheel for a 17" and the bike started to push the front wheel in the bends i.e. understeer. There was only 20...
