A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Have you blocked off the vacuum nipple? Plus did you completely strip your carbs when you cleaned them?

    1982 CB900f

Here's one in Germany: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Honda-Boldor-Hinterrad-CB1100-F-Super-Bol-d-or-/302381385086?hash=item466755c57e:g:PWsAAOSwfJJZZgKR Ebay.de will be your best bet for hunting in Europe; the 1100 was a very rare beast in the UK. I've only seen 2 over here and I owned one of them.

    1982 CB900f

Or a European 1100F if you want plug and play. We also had 900s with silver boomerang wheels and, of course, they'll fit. The VF wheels are a different size (or were here).

    Gs1000e airbox rubbers

Yes they do. They fit spot on, the only difference is the bell mouth bit inside the airbox is about 5mm shorter but it doesn't affect anything at all.

Oil pressure light will not work after removing oil temp sensor GS1150 / Kat

Sounds like the little spring on your oil pressure switch has given up. If there's only a tiny bit of slack at full extension of the plunger it's time to replace.

    Fork questions 1978 GS750D

Not sure if it stands for all the 650s but the Kat forks are less than 1cm shorter than those from a 750. It will make a difference to the handling but you'll probably not know it. They have broadly the same technology in both sets so they'll perform the same. If you're not sure of the origins...

    What's this blue wire for?

    Neutral light wire I reckon.

Taking a GS1000 to the track, advice needed

Don't forget your brakes either. Slowing down better will improve your times more than going faster better.

Got a wrong o-ring with my oil filter

That's a pain. I can't remember ever having one that didn't come with both.

Got a wrong o-ring with my oil filter

You need the other o ring. Did you not get both in the filter box?

    Fuel in air box...

You should be able to see which carb is playing up if you take a look at the airbox to carb hoses.
  12. hampshirehog

    Forks

Definitely leaking on the inner tube and not around the outside of the seals where they meet the fork bottoms? Plus are your forks the later type with the bronze collar? Could be the collars are worn and the forks have too much side to side movement.

    Hose at bottom of airbox?

It's a drain hose and it hangs down at the back of the engine.

    gs1100ez carb to airbox boots

The parts diagram shows them as all the same. Has the airbox dished at the front in the centre slightly?

    Triumph 650 twin problems

Sounds like it's the battery down on power. The test is to switch on the headlight, foot on the rear brake to light up the brake light, hold both on for a minute and then hit the horn. Anything less and the Boyer boxes don't seem to like it.

    Triumph 650 twin problems

A Bonnie or a Trophy? If she's twin carbs possibly a split / rot in the carb balance pipe or the carbs are over tightened - both are not uncommon, the latter in particular. I forget what the torque setting us but it's very low - not much more than finger tight as the flange seats can distort...

    did they re jet

Some 4-1s work better with different jets and some don't. Having said that, I'd bet that as you've got stock mains in there then nobody changed the jetting at all.

    stud bolts bottom of forks

They're held in with factory thread locker and come out pretty easily if you hear them up first.

    Rear shock absorber posts stripped

Araldite definitely wouldn't work and I've yet to see a liquid metal that would but I've not used that many of them. I've retapped threads the same size with success (can't remember if it was coarse to fine or vice versa) so I'd say it's worth a go - it's not a high torque setting for those nuts...

    Rear shock absorber posts stripped

I've only ever seen M9 with a 14mm spanner size and presume you're after 17mm. I reckon the only way you could do M9 17mm would be to buy some 17mm hexagon bar and drill and tap it to M9 yourself.
