DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Removing old points 77 GS400

*you can sometimes use a slot-type screwdriver to jam the hard-to-get-at bolt head while you loosen the nut with something else. Try different sizes of slot-head if you have them-it's hard to explain but the taper of the screwdriver can help fill the space better to jam it... By the way, the...

No Spark either side till i release the starter button

Oh, you're not insane.... you were dealt a bad card. The symptom "No Spark either side till i release the starter button " = Bad Ignitor ... isn't in the shop manual. and even though I have a spare working ignitor , I still wouldn't swap it in cavalierly until everything else in the path of...

No Spark either side till i release the starter button

Thanks for reporting back. Hope it didn't cost much! $US329.00 from that site for a plugnplay "CDI" would make me query them pretty closely per what it really is, and their return policies...

    Shifter interference

much better. I've got a couple of non-suzukis with kickstands 'forward".One,the NijaEX500 is shifter is nearly unuseable with big boots. I have two ideas: 1) You say it's not a bother on yours, but I cut stupid extremities away-that helped. 2) glue or wire or otherwise clamp a rubber pad near...

    Help identify correct engine timing

With electronic Transistor Controlled Ignition, there's not much to worry about, if everything's attached properly. I wouldn't puzzle too much expecting TI (ignition) to match cam positions...the spark's timing is changed as the bike speeds up* anyways So, just double-check the cam-chain...

Yes, injection cleaner is something my local pro mechanic offers people first, when they show up with indefinite running issues...he says it often works, and I can see where it might help...the higher cost brand name gasolines might have similar additives. I know the Chevron High octanes polish...

My first guess per your high idle would be that you are not allowing bike to warm up before taking choke/enricher off The second guess would be idle passage and jets..Do test for idle mix with warmed up bike and idle setting lower than you have it, then after noting where the adjusting screw are...

haha.. There's lots of little things that can go wrong but do not. I would be wary of fixing/replacing things as a precaution excepting Oil,filter and tires( if they are showing signs of age or are definitely beyond 8 years as a max but new tires are almost always good. except Maybe wait for...

Lovely picture, Mat! I see you have the "stylish" 400E...a few differences from my 81! the diff I immediately recall is that the chain is longer so be careful if it comes to it. I look at cmsnl for part numbers ..you have what's also known as "gsx" engine so don't get muddled by the...

Dorkburger for me...it's got that certain tension of "don't-put-your-eye-out" disaster. But hard to choose-Mein gott! be careful :)- alligator clips? camera mount?-just the thing to fall off and need a hand when you shouldn't... haha like the bead-breaker- I did this once using a loaded boat...

    Tachometer on GS450GA Suzukimatic

I think they commonly tap the primary coil , (not the secondary) and then to move the needle according to those pulses, they take a "+" and ground from the general power supply to the gauges ...the colour code of one you buy likely won't match Suzuki's but per above, I don't see it's too...

    Tachometer on GS450GA Suzukimatic

Yes, do be wary. Ebay and all that have tachs that purport to suit all in their titles but I do believe If you are looking at electronic ones, you need to know the "ratio"- they are NOT universal so put 'Suzuki" in your search.. For your 450, I believe it'd be 1:4. ..from my "stuff" I have...

what did you wrench on today??

haha well, I was considering my brakes on my aged vehicle but after reading that plus all the squatting and kneeling with poor lighting and the always-necessary ad-hoc tool innovations, I'm now considering driving it into the local chain repair shop even if my "satisfaction moment" may come...

:) Well, I'm reduced to nit-picking but I expect you mean tested ok as 5 .5 or 6 k (kilo-ohms)... I've no particular experience with aftermarket but Which kit is it? There must be something to interrupt the coil's power...even a CDI system has triggers But given they should work it (still)...
