A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Gs1150 carbs on gs1000

The carbs are fine. The issue you are facing is because of the pods. They mess up the jetting.

    Intermittent overflow

Please don't try to just install needles into the old seats. They wear together as a pair. And don't get K&L, the spring is too weak to hold up the float. You can make a clear tube fuel level tool by taking a piece of cheap nylon or tygon tubing, and using your grinder to pencil point one...

    GS450 to 500 swap questions

Some of the cheap china pods block airflow into the small carb passages on the carb inlet side. You might want to check that.

    Intermittent overflow

Sounds like your fuel level is high. Right on the ragged edge of overflowing. Why, is the next question. Float valves wear, and don't seal perfectly. Needle springs get weak. Floats age, and get heavy. Start with performing the "clear tube" fuel level test. Adjust the float height, to...

    82 GS1100G "patina mod"

Those carbs are rough! Water got in there. Gas leaves varnish, which is relatively easy to clean, unlike what you have there. Do you have a pressure washer? If so, maybe blast some of that crud loose.

‘82 650L Fuel filter clogged during ride; fixed+ rode home.

The petcock has a screen, and each float valve has another. You don't need any extra fuel filters, if your bike is properly maintained. Sounds like you need to clean the rust and general grunge out of your gas tank. There are countless threads here on how to do that. Bottom line: remove...

Bike Idling With My Fuel Mixture Screws All The Way In

This video is good. One thing, though, the pilot circuit has a series of tiny holes that are on the carb wall adjacent to the throttle valve plate. Those holes need to be open, as well as the larger hole for the pilot hole.

He's back, and with another 1100G

Unless it's been replaced previously, the spline for the drive shaft bolted to the rear wheel will be wasted. You will need a new spline and the special high moly grease (50%+ moly). Tons more info in the archives about this.

    Long and Short Plug Boots

One trick: stick a straight pin between the wire and the wall of the channel in the coil, and press it down as far as it will go. Then squirt some WD-40 on the pin. Pull the pin out, and stick it back in at a different location from the first, working around the wire. As you get the sauce...

Rejetting for 4into1 pipes on gs850glt

It's trial and error. Is the airbox installed? A header doesn't typically cause big jetting issues, but removing the airbox and installing pods does. Taking your comments at face value, try bumping the mains two steps and see what happens.
