A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Replacing fuel line

Fuel Line Replacement Fuel Line Replacement It ain't easy. I have done it but my religion took a serious hit that day. I used a long screwdriver (actually used the one from my carb adjustment tool I think) placed INSIDE the fuel line for stiffness. Stabbed the fuel inlet nipple with the...

    530 conversion question

Chain Conversion Chain Conversion I did the 530 conversion on my 750 T last year. Worst part was cutting the old chain off. Toss the old countershaft sprocket and "cushions"....use the new sprocket and spacer and you're good to go. I found the bike to be much smoother. Less driveline...

    Why yes, of course....

    Found a topcase...

That's right... if the seam is at the midpoint and opens up like a clam shell, hinged in the front, the backrest interferes with it. Most of the topboxes are designed to attach to a rear rack without the backrest (notice I never say sissy bar :-\\\) I think an old Vetter unit might work. I...

    Found a topcase...

Where can I find one? Where can I find one? I have one of those backrests with the fold down rack too. Been watching for a topcase that will open like that. Can you share details of "make, model, source, vintage, etc"?

    82gs750t fuel gauge

Cruddy Reostat Cruddy Reostat It's a simple reostat so maybe there's some rust buildup or trash in the gas :(. I bought "spare" tins for mine and when they arrived the tank was way rusty inside, including the fuel level sending unit. I removed and soaked it in Evapo-Rust for a couple of days...

    1982 gs750t

Too Short?? Too Short?? I'm about 5'-8" (I don't like to watch when I'm at the Doc's, since I'm starting to shrink I think :o). I cannot flat-foot on my T or my E (in-seam of 29" on a GOOD day :()...but so what. If that was a criteria I would be riding a cruiser. The best I can do is the balls...

IRC Duotour 310 vs. Bridgestone Spitfires

17" Rear Tires 17" Rear Tires I struggled with this decision last year as I was rescuing my TZ. 120/90-17's are hard to find and expensive. I wound up with the IRC's and after about 4,000 miles I can't complain. They probably won't go another 4,000 but they're holding up better that the...

    Wet fuel level

Service Manual Service Manual I've never done this but..... per the service manual (see BassCliff's site http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/) The bike should be on the center stand (does not say to jack up the front) and measure the fuel level (as shown in the pic) which is at...

Just got an 83' 750T have some questions

These bikes ARE cold blooded, but I commuted on my '82 T all winter long (down to 18F). I've been riding my '81 E for the last month or so and even when the ambient temp is in the 70's it needs to be "choked" if the bike is "cold".... and it gets cold just sitting for a few hours. The surging...

    Petcock still leaks!

Petcock Mounting Washers Petcock Mounting Washers What kind of washers did you use? Steel washers will leak (DAMHIK). The specified washers are the "oil gallery exhaust" washer which is a steel OD with inner ring of rubber. I've gotten by with "fiber" washers from the local hardware store too...

Got no idea where to go from here....

Avoid Hydrolock Avoid Hydrolock Significant leakage could allow raw fuel into the cylinder. Before attempting to start, pull the plug and then rotate the engine. If gasoline "blows" from the spark plug hole then there's a significant leak. Your leaky gasket is a good indicator if you've...

Got no idea where to go from here....

Float Bowl Leaking Float Bowl Leaking If it's only the no1 carb leaking, and only while on the side stand, it may just be a gasket. If the gasket leaks while the bike is on the center stand, the level is too high in the bowl. The float is sticking in the down position, the float valve is...

    Fairing or windshield help

Fairings Fairings I'm using the National Cycle Deflector on my '82 T model. I also added Barkbusters for winter hand protection. See link for pics... can see the fairing on the "red" picture. http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/album.php?u=12651 I'm also running a Shoei FM 5 on my '81 E...

    Another Fork Seal thread...

My experience on an '81 (forks are slightly different I think) My experience on an '81 (forks are slightly different I think) I needed a 1" spacer with the Progressive spings to get the sag about right. I used a piece of 1/2" PVC plus (2) 3/8" dia washers which have a 1" O.D. and fit...
