If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Fitting the GS 1000 tank with an 1135 engine

My pleasure Steve! By any chance if you bump into a throttle slide (32 mm in diameter) for a BS 36 SS carb please let me know .

Fitting the GS 1000 tank with an 1135 engine

And the final product: I'll explain in another post how I did with a GSXR 1059 engine in a GS 1000 frame to solve the same issue.

Fitting the GS 1000 tank with an 1135 engine

The solution is simple in theory as you only need to lift the tank. In this case, I decided to lift the front of the tank by 10 mm. To do so I drilled a hole above the normal tank support to insert an Allen bolt through the frame. Next, I "tortured" the rubber support so that the original hole...

Fitting the GS 1000 tank with an 1135 engine

Having fitted an 1135 ( rebored to 1230) engine in my 1100 Katana, I decided to do the same upgrade on a GS 1000. It looked pretty simple as the carbs of the 1135 have the same outside dimensions as the OEM GS 1000 ET despite the increase of the throttle slide from 29 to 32 mm. The first...

    Suzuki GS1000e/s/gs1100/gsx1100 project...

Yes Steve, the tank sides touch the top of the engine. I'll open a new thread to show how I solved this issue not only for the 1135 engine but also for the GSXR 1059 in two different ways.

    Suzuki GS1000e/s/gs1100/gsx1100 project...

Thanks Jeff! I read most of Dan's post as I read somewhere that the SV 650 calipers would fit but apparently not? On another subject, I'm looking for a throttle slide for a GS 1135 carb. I had found one on Ebay in the UK but it was in poor condition and returned it. If you happen to see one...

Twinpot Brake upgrade on 78 Skunk

Hi Dan, I'm looking into the purchase of one of your front brake upgrade kits for my GS 1000 ST. A couple of questions: Do the SV 650 calipers work with the kit and if so what model year? Does the kit work with the OEM slotted disks of the 1980 GS 1000? Will you please send me a quote including...

    Suzuki GS1000e/s/gs1100/gsx1100 project...

Hi Bob, the reason I asked is that the models mentionned on Salty's thread correspond to US model numbers. Here in France, the Honda models go like PC31 or SC29 and SC 31 like those mentionned here: Disques de frein flottant Honda CBR 600 1995-1998,CBR 900 RR FIREBLADE 1994-1997 | eBay The...

I noticed you fitted the "Salty-Monk" front brake upgrade. What are the exact disks and calipers you used? I understood SV 650 and CBR 600 but there are so many variants that I'd like to make sure I buy the right ones. Congrats on the build!

More modern cartridge fork options - retaining GS wheels & proper/revised geometry

In terms of tires, have you tried the Conti Classic Attack that are radial tires ? I've fitted them on my GS 1000 ST that would always go into a weave at high speed due to it's very narrow rear 18" wheel. With the Conti's its all gone! Continental Motorcycle Tires ContiClassicAttack...

Differences in GS1000l vs GS 1000ec frames comments

And here is the frame of the GS(X) 1100 16 valve. The lt version differs only in the rear loop and some reinforcement between the front downtubes. BTW, the front bottom left engine support is welded on the 1000 and bolted on the 1100. Fitting an 1100 engine requires the removal of the welded...

You can use many forks for the GS 1000. I've used GSXR 1100 G/H, GSXR 1100 K and best of all Yamaha R6 first gen.

More modern cartridge fork options - retaining GS wheels & proper/revised geometry

Hi Chuck, It's been some time ago I mounted the Vstrom triples on my GS 1000 frame with the R6 RSU stanchions... I don't have access to the press fit area as the bike is fully rebuilt and running. I do remember however that I thought at first that the stem would be too long but it worked in the...

Lots of smoke from my rebuilt 1135 engine

LA sleeve said that the OEM like sleeve for the GS 1150 is the FL872. The issue is that they have none in stock and the lead time is around two months... I've sent a mail to rapidray to see if he has any usable sleeve in stock? If anyone else can help, I would be grateful!
