A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Where to get oversize pistons for GS1000??

They have a tarnished reputation, often not responding back to address any issue the customer may have with the product. If it's not too late I'd stay away.

Where to get oversize pistons for GS1000??

Yeah I thought it was quite straightforward, drill four holes the same size, stick in appropriate sized piston, done. But the mechanic I use has worked the World SBK circuit for many years and he matches each cylinder to the the individual piston, apparently they're not always exactly the same.

I feel your pain Charles:D I posted some photos and cowl instructions on my thread, it went worse than expected. It was hit or miss whether a photo would be attached, or rejected for no specified reason, a number of others that were rejected as multiple photos(one was later accepted as single...

    1984 GS1150ef rebuild!!! renew!!

Until I come up with something better here's how I attached it to the seat for now. Originally it was attached to the pillion base but there were a number of issues with that method. Attaching the cowl to the seat solved a several of problems at once and it all comes off with only the oem key...

    1984 GS1150ef rebuild!!! renew!!

Tried uploading a "single" picture of the prime stage but GS Resources rejects it telling me I'm only allowed one photo  back pad was cut from I had left over from my CBX seat project. Cut and shaped to fit the space above the drivers seat, I cut it larger than required so it would...

    1984 GS1150ef rebuild!!! renew!!

The finished height was no different than the oem in the rear. At his point the pillion seat was removed and I added 3-4 layers of fibreglass for strength, reinforced areas I though would be likely mounting points, filled in some low spots, straightened some lines. I suck at fibreglass it took...

    1984 GS1150ef rebuild!!! renew!!

For Charles who was curious as to how I made my tail cowl/ solo seat conversion I break down the process. I didn't know if I would be successful so I bought a spare pillion seat with a torn cover for $20. I took off the seat material to hopefully wrap the future back pad, getting the matching...

Rich I went to that site and I couldn't even find your account. Even Bringing one picture here was too complex and GSR still limited me to a single thumbnail per post. Compared to OSSI, where it's "click-attach image,click-browse files, click-photo, click upload photo...done" super...

well yeah but they'll limited to one per post and all are thumbnails that you'll need to click to enlarge. I tried but that's the best I could manage.

But you're an IT genius Rich :Dfor many of us oldskool types it's far too complex, far too many hoops to jump through, I've given up.

I have posted a bit on the seat/cowl I can add more pics and info on the process in my thread. I'm pleased with my first attempt building one and already I'm considering another version improving it and possibly in aluminum or steel. You could probably take some of what I learned and build a...

shortened seat/tail cowl/seat lock? That may be my '84 you saw. I used mukuni RS36, and Hindle 4-2-1 headers. 4-2-1 headers have better midrange for street riding vs a 4-1 but you''ll need to give up the centre stand.

our oem efe's nearly meet the parameters for cafe racer as big as they may be. When I built a cafe back in the 70's the definition for a cafe was... stripped for minimal weight, clip-on bars, solo seat, forward leaning riding position, various performance enhancements, fairing was optional as...

Ah you found my thread there.:D It took a while before I got in, OSI website wouldn't recognize my email address for registration. Following some of the project threads on OSI has encouraged me to raise the bar as to what I can do. Though realistically I'll never come close to many of those builds.

Surprisingly difficult to remove the paint on the tank. The clear coat resisting aircraft paint stripper. A wire brush mounted on my drill had to chew through the clear before the stripper could remove the paint. I had planned to use a clear to prevent the tank from oxidization which would take...

There were two very tiny dents from the factory, my vintage buddies spotted them right away but the average person wouldn't. I may try pull them out later with a glue stick but I'm okay if they remain. yeah there's another issue with posting photos here, no obvious ways to manipulate the...

Gas tank polish, I restored a vintage Maico440 race condition back in the day Maico paint peeled off the aluminum tanks very quickly so it became the norm to leave them raw or polish them. I figured I could do the same with the 1150, I knew the PO so I knew it had never been damage and bondo...
