A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    1985 Kawasaki GPz750 needs refresh

Hum. The 550's are known for rod knock, but not the 650/750. Are you sure? The clutch basket is known to develop lash, fix as shown in my build thread (installing new rubber cush bumpers). Also, the secondary shaft drive sprocket has rubber bushing that develop lash. Hope the problem isn't...

    The American Revolution

Ken Burns is the BEST! Love his work. I truly hope his work continues to be properly funded. With the big PBS cutback, it's something that worries me. And sorry for the somewhat political comment. Please, let's not turn this thread towards politics. I have fast internet, but no cable TV...

    1981 GS650g carb problems

Buy a new set of float valves. Real deal mikuni or Keyster brand. And a new carb body to replace the one with the broken float post. In the carb rebuild tutorial linked in my signature, I show how to remove the float pin without breaking the post off. Sadly, many people don't research, and...

The END is near (California guys)

The Westinghouse unit I bought comes in a lot of different power levels. I got the 2700, but they also have a 3000, 3200, and 3400, all within a price range of only $60. They all seem to use the same gas engine, and weigh the same, too. I assume it relates to the pump, and/or, the drive ratio...

The END is near (California guys)

Got me another gas powered power tool coming my way. This time, a pressure washer. Ordered from Home Depot. Either they are not paying attention to the California ban, or this unit was made before the ban. Anyway, I'm excited. Was considering electric, but reviews suggest most units are weak...

Maybe the most "cobbled-together" bike I have ever purchased!

I agree with Dan. That bike is a ringer. GS bikes never used riveted VIN labels. Is the title clear? If so, I suppose you would be fine with fixing and flipping. Personally, I wouldn't bother changing the carbs if what's on there is working decently.

2025 World Series - Dodgers and Blue Jays

Here in the LA area, a huge cheer went up all around the neighborhood when Rojas's homer tied the game in the 9th. And when Smith blasted the winning homer, fireworks could be heard like it was the 4th of July! Crazy times! On Saturday, Halloween, and game 6, there was a home around the...

1980 GS850GT top end rebuild - head machining

I think the head gasket surface is okay. The rings around the cylinders, cam chain tunnel, and oil passages looks clean, which are the critical sealing areas.

    Looking good! New GSX 8tt

Apples to oranges comparison. I agree that the Kawasaki looks way better. Too bad Suzuki couldn't have made the original 8S look better, instead of dressing it up now, and wanting a bunch of money for the lipstick.

    Float adjustment

Just touching. However, if the float needle spring can't support the weight of the float, it's best to replace the float valve as an assembly. Use real Mikuni, or Keyser parts. Most others are low quality.

    2 GS750 engines

That looks like fairly heavy rust. I'd remove the cam without turning the engine over further, so you can soak it in evaporust. With the rust removed, then you can make a proper damage assessment. Or, just sell it as a parts engine, as you mentioned.

    1981GS1000G project to finish

Sad to see those bikes in that condition. Left out in the elements without protection. Sad to say, you have two parts bikes there. $500 total, maybe.
