A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1980 or 1982 GS1100E--Which Would You Choose?

By the way, guys, I need a rear tank mount bracket, the one that bolts to the frame. If any of you have one laying around you would care to get rid of or know where one is, please contact me. Thanks!

    1980 or 1982 GS1100E--Which Would You Choose?

Okay, went smaller even with the resize and it worked. Hopefully it will continue to do so. Forgive the clutter. Lots going on right now. :)

    1980 or 1982 GS1100E--Which Would You Choose?

Stop yelling at me, Ron. lol. I am going to separate the carbs. and clean them good and proper. This is just the preliminary cleaning to get the outside grunge off while I wait on the kits to arrive.

    1980 or 1982 GS1100E--Which Would You Choose?

Thought I had the pictures thing figured out. Trying to do the exact same thing resizing as I did with the above pics but now saying file to big again. This is frustrating to say the least.

    1980 or 1982 GS1100E--Which Would You Choose?

Unfortunately, I don't know how to resize or do any of that stuff. I just tried reposting one of the pics I already posted, and it says file size too large. That doesn't make sense since I've already posted it.

    1980 or 1982 GS1100E--Which Would You Choose?

Well, got started on the '82. It was from Oregon, so I had to get a VIN verification from the CHP (because some of the VIN sticker on the steering head was worn away and unreadable) but other than that, it passed through the California DMV process relatively smooth. Have the carburetors off and...

    Pod Filters?

Hey guys! What's the general consensus regarding pod filters instead of the factory air box? I know on the 1979-1983 Honda CB750-1100 bikes it is not recommended because the Honda's particular carb. design requires there be somewhat of a restriction in airflow for the carbs to work properly. I...

    High Miles?

Hey guys! What would be considered high miles for the GS1100E machines? I realize how a bike has been maintained has a lot to do with longevity, but is there a number--20;000, 30,000, 100,000 miles-- that would be considered high mileage? Thanks!

    1981 GS1100E Parts Bike

27,000 miles. Unfortunately, this bike had been stored in an aluminum container and aluminum corrosion and rust are now evident. The bike does not run, however the engine spins over freely with a wrench on the crank with no abnormal mechanical noises. It is missing the headlight assembly, air...
