A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1983 GS750TD rare model??

For searching the forums, just use GS750T. Nobody ever puts the year code on there. And the 2 T models are virtually identical save for a few tiny differences.

    1983 GS750TD rare model??

OH I just remembered this! 82's had a natural aluminum engine and the 83's had a black painted engine! HTH!

    1983 GS750TD rare model??

And, yes T models were kinda rare, but that only makes it harder to find parts for. Doesn't make them worth any more! lol Mostly it's like an E but with some L touches like the rounder tank and round headlight. Unfortunately the seat pan, tank, tail, and side covers are unique to the T so don't...

    Vacuum petcock not functioning?

Seems like you already ordered one, but here is my solution from a long time ago. Several people did this mod to the stock petcock and had much success. https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?78551-Vaccum-petcock-convert-without-replacing&p=300816#post300816

What is an 81 850L worth nowadays?

It's crazy, when I first started reading this site back in the listserve days nobody would pay more than a dollar per CC for a decent running bike. 1100E's and 1150's got a premium, but only about 500 more just because most of them were gutted for race engines. Finding an unmolested 1100E got...

What is an 81 850L worth nowadays?

Ahhh Crud! Sold today while I was at work. Oh well. I still have my old 750E which was torn apart for a rebuild and I never finished it. I guess I should get on that huh? I've been going through the archives here searching my old handle (also HiSPL) and reliving memories. I really need to get...

    What's your favorite tank treatment?

Has anyone gotten a radiator shop to dip the whole tank in their acid bath? I have an old tank that I might try that on. I was gonna repaint it anyway.....

What is an 81 850L worth nowadays?

Yes, absolutely. I do know how to read it. Thanks.

What is an 81 850L worth nowadays?

Thanks all. Hope to go see it in person tomorrow. Yeah the rear tire is a Shinko and looks brand new. Can't tell what the front is, or how old.

Flat car tire on a bike?

I have a Vstrom now and tons of those guys are using car tires. Of all the problems that people talk about "could" happen, those that use the car tire rarely if ever experience any problems. Granted these guys are touring more than racing or canyon carving. But still, they seem to be willing and...

What is an 81 850L worth nowadays?

Yeah he's asking 800 right now. Hopefully can talk him down a bit more. I'm just curious about what I could get for it after shining it up and making it run good. Chances are I'd ride it for a little bit, but I have long legs and find the L seating position tough after a few miles. Will be great...

What is an 81 850L worth nowadays?

Hi all I'm an old, OLD member of this group. I actually began using the GS resources when it was still an email based FAQ! Anyways, I've been out of the GS game for quite a long time, but I ran across a very clean and well maintained 81 850L that I'm thinking about buying to ride for a bit and...

    dB Customs Carbon 173hp Katana

So is the tank real CF? Or is it CF painted? Or Wrapped maybe? Great work. The only thing I would do different is to hide or black out the reg/rec and fuse box.

More modern cartridge fork options - retaining GS wheels & proper/revised geometry

I'll get this, but my Strom is in storage right now. I'll have to get over there and move a bunch of stuff out of the way.

More modern cartridge fork options - retaining GS wheels & proper/revised geometry

Also, there's some crossover between the Vstrom and the SV1000 as well. If you want a 17" front you can use the sv1000 stuff. Brakes an discs as well iirc.

More modern cartridge fork options - retaining GS wheels & proper/revised geometry

I've always suspected that the Strom forks would work. I just wanted somebody smarter than me to confirm it! I have a 2005 Vstrom 1000. It's a great bike and handles very well. There are options to lower the front end for short folks (it is a tall bike). I figured I would drop the front a...

More modern cartridge fork options - retaining GS wheels & proper/revised geometry

Has anybody considered using the V-Strom front end and wheelset? The 1000 has a cartridge fork design, uses a 3 spoke 19" wheel, and has handlebar risers and clamps. The matching rear wheel is a 17x4.5" rim like a bandit. They make pilot sports that fit these rim sizes too. The adventure...
