    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1974 Laverda 3C

We'll all be waiting for an audio/visual start up clip. Particularly audio. Before that (amateur?) track clip you posted recently, I'd never heard the big Laverda triple before, nor anything like it.

    GS550 Bottom End Rattle/Knock

Am I correct that it seems to stop at higher rpms? Sounds worse than a 'click' to me. On the plus side, if it only happens at idle,... But, before dismantling engine (or just opening it), double (triple) check that it's not an engine or exhaust mount, side or center stand, filter cover, etc...

    Bike Of The Month Submissions

Well, my engine is black, but I don't think spraying a little paint on it causes the crank to be welded. It's an '82, through and through, except for the speedo. It's my opinion that '83 red is the fastest color. But opinions are like armpits: everyone's got one, and it usually stinks...

    Bike Of The Month Submissions

It's an '82 that the PO painted to look like an '83. I really wanted a GPz1100, but I'm not made of gold. I didn't even know about GS11Es when I bought it in 2013 after a 24 year hiatus from riding, but it checked every box: 1100cc, chain drive, air cooled, dohc. I immediately bought the 1982...

    Bike Of The Month Submissions

Nice looking bike Danny. It's so refreshing to see another bike without bags, luggage rack, etc. etc. However, if you'll read the fine print, you'll see that bikes with shaft drive are ineligible to be Bike of the Month.:eek::eek:

    Nice 1983 GS1100e on CL in L.A.

Well, we know the right side looks good and the center and side stands work. :biggrin-new: Yes, I too am 99.9% certain this is a member bike and I'm sure I know who. He does quality work and this is worth every penny.

    Discussions about the future BOTM

I don't like Bike of the Month "Game." I think "Award" or "Winner" sounds better and more accurately describes it. Opening it up to any brand might increase participation, but sort of defeats the purpose. So how about repeat entries? Same bike, different photo, say eligible again after 18...

    Choke Plunger Replacement

I can't offer you any specific advice on your carb situation, but just want to wish you well. Nothing wrong with having money, but I'd give it all away to be a broke college kid again. Enjoy it while it lasts! :lemo:
